We as a regiment will try to portray the regiment by doing several things, listed bellow in a list;

: Realistic 18th-19th Century tactics, for example, and how we shall function with them;
: The Company Mass;
in this formation, the senior officer shall instruct the company to form two ranks, now when this order has been carried out successfully, then the order will be made to face the opposite directions, the right rank FACE RIGHT, the left rank FACE LEFT, then after this order has been carried out once again correctly, then the senior officer(s) will order the entire company to block to the right, this formation is a anti cavalry formation the blocking to the right is effective against sword cavalry, because the most common attack the cavalry would make will be to that direction, communication is key when it comes to this, because the men need to point out to the other troops, where the enemy cavalry is located, and what direction it is going in, and where it's estimated epicenter is going to be.  The troops may leave the formation at any time, but they must not venture to far out of the formation, to stop this you will insert a anti cavalry specialist assigned to a member of the company which is fairly effective in melee/ have a exceeded knowledge of anti cavalry tactics, they will stay out of the formation and move around the "Company Mass", this is when communications are a key aspect, when the troops are giving the positions of the cavalry, they will be coordinating the specialist, to desired sections of the formation, so that he can take the horses out before arrival, so if they are running directly towards the formation, at a reasonable pace then the rider will end up running into the formation, troops will be able to shoot in the formation whenever they want, but the recommended instructions in that they take their shots wisely, also when the cavalryman is clearly, going for you take the initiative and melee charge them, or block him.

: The Implementation of Züge;

Züge will be used in the regiment, for example the ratio of this is quite simple, each Zug will be a minimum of 12 - 13 men.

Here is a example of the lay out the troops, with their respected names and roles listed

RolesandJobstable.png

[Marching Orders of the Zug;

The Senior Officer will order the troops to form a single column behind him, then he will order the troops to form a double column, then after that he will say to the Zug "Company Right Face" as soon after that he will order the corporal to step out and go to the very left side of the formation and the senior officer will place himself on the right side of the formation.

The Movements of the Zug

The officer will now order the troops to form a half-a-mans gap, this will enable the second rank to take cover behind the front rank and when they are firing, they will go into the gaps in the line. After firing, they will take cover once more behind the front rank and reload. Now going onto movement. The movement commands of the Zug in the regiment is of a stagger march. With the company commander on the right side of the formation the order will be given "company forwards march". All the rankers have to do is follow the man on the right of themselves. In the case of those in the second or higher rank, all that they must simply do is follow the man in front. To stop the Zug, the company commander will order the Zug "halt". The Zug will halt adjacent to the company commander and it will reform the original formation.

Standard Wheeling

Whilst the Zug is moving, when the company commander wishes to do a right turn, he will order the men "right wheel" and this will come as a warning to the Zug that the company commander wishes to do a rotary motion to the right. The same will apply to the left. If the company commander wishes to completely turn around, he will order the men "company counter-march". This means that, the Zug has been warned that the company commander wishes to do a 180 degree turn so that the Zug is marching in the opposite direction.

Complex Wheeling

When the Zug is stationary, for example if the commander says "company right wheel march" the company commander will turn right (clockwise) to face the direction he desires the company to face. This action is to be mirrored by the company until the formation is reformed to the left of the company commander's new position. This movement is similar to that of a door opening. Similarly, if the order "company left wheel march" is given, the company will rotate (anti-clockwise) as before, however this time, the company will wheel about the Acting Corporal instead of the commander due to the fact that the commander is on the right of the company as apposed to the left (the desired direction to wheel) making it simply easier to it this way.

The Acting Corporal

The Acting corporal is not exactly a rank, in the regiment it is more of a role, so any rank can take this role in a line battle or a similar event of any kind, the job the Corporal will be on the very left side of the formation, and he will be in charge of keeping the left side of the formation organized, and most importantly he will be in charge of organizing the "left wheel march" of the Zug.

Firing Commands in the Zug

The Zug has rather simple firing commands, the most common firing command which will be carried out is the fire of volleys so the order which the Company Commander will make will be "Company Present" meaning that they present their muskets, but before this is done, the second rank and higher shall all address to the right into the gaps between the men of the first rank, then they will present their muskets at the desired target, shortly after, the Company Commander will say "Company take aim"  as a reminder and a warning of a volley, in order to prepare the troops to finish zeroing their target. Then the Company Commander will say "FIRE" and then, obviously, the Zug will open fire, as soon as this action is carried out all troops are required, to move to the left back behind the troops in the front rank, so that the second rank will not take unnecessary casualties from bullets going through the gaps, as soon as they have placed themselves behind the first rank, the troops will immediately reload, and await further instructions by the company commander.
In ripple fire the company commander will say "Ripple fire from the right" or either "Ripple Fire from the left" before saying that the Company Commander will say, "the Present and take aim" orders. He will say "Ready" then he will, repeat the order then he will then say "fire".
With fire at will the company commander will give the same presenting orders, then he will tell them to "Fire at will" he will also remind the Zug to take their time when aiming, usually the recommended aim time is at least three seconds, for reasonable accuracy and rate of fire.

Ranks

Conscript(Con): You have been conscripted to fight for the Austrian Empire, and the recruitment officers have assigned you to this regiment, you have been given a term of service and a condition, when you have fluently learned the conditions and the skills of soldering you shall be allowed to leave the army, in search of new things. You may want to be reassigned to the regiment which will mean that you shall enter as a Volunteer.

Volunteer(Vol): You have done your service in the regiment as a conscripted troop, and you have volunteered to join the regiment, for another period of service. When you have completed this stage then you will become a official member of the regiment.

Cadet (Cdt): You have been intrusted in knowing all the tactics of the regiment, you are close to finishing off you complete service, so you can be a official rank in the regiment.

Soldat(Sdt): This is the lowest official rank in the regiment. Soldaten make up the rank and file of our regiment and account for the vast majority of our men. Soldaten are expected to follow the code of conduct and carry out orders. Our success or failure as a regiment rests on the shoulders of these men.

Gefreiter(Gfr): Gefreitern should be considered "experienced soldaten". This is not an NCO rank, rather it is an award to those Soldaten we deem to have exhibited a mastery of the skills of the soldier. Gefreitern do not issue orders, neither are they considered superior in rank to Soldaten, rather, they are looked upon as the "ideal soldiers" and are expected to act as so. Gefreitern lead by example and are usually the ones being groomed for advancement into the ranks of the NCO's. Only through hard work and exemplary performance can a Soldat be considered for advancement to Gefreiter.

Guardsmen(*Gdm):The Guardsmen is a special rank which only two men in the regiment will have the honor in having, to be somebody of this rank you must be well drilled, and know the tactics of the regiment like the back of your hand, also you must have a sight for innovation with further tactics.  This also can be awarded for loyal and long term service in the regiment.  This position holds no rank position, but it has the same importance as a high ranker NCO.

Hauptgefreiter(HGfr): Hauptgefreiter are the lowest ranking Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the regiment. It is their job to work with the Unteroffiziers to maintain order in the ranks and to ensure that discipline and the code of conduct are upheld at all times. Hauptgefreiter lead by example, but are also expected to understand line tactics and if need be, take over for an Unteroffizier in case they fall in battle. Hauptgefreiter are expected to provide an example of what it means to be a "good soldier", but are expected, unlike the Gefreitern, to learn how to lead as well. Hauptgefreiter act as the left guides of the platoons in our battle lines. Therefore, it is paramount that they be familiar with line tactics.

Unteroffizier(Uffz): Unteroffiziere are the lifeforce of the regiment. These men are the true leaders of the Kompanie and ensure that it remains combat effective. Unteroffiziere are expected to know and understand not only the line tactics, but also be knowledgeable in how to give and receive orders. Discipline is maintained by these men and it is their jobs to ensure that all orders are carried out by the men. Any problems or concerns are first dealt with by the Unteroffiziere and are only passed up the chain of command if they are unable to resolve it. Unteroffiziere are expected to interact with the men and answer any questions or concerns that they have, they are also expected to ensure that every soldier in their platoon is fully functional (IE on teamspeak, in steam group, checking the forums, running the current version of Warband/Mount&Musket, etc) as well as helping their Leutnant with accountability.

Feldwebel(Fw): Feldwebel is the highest ranking NCO in the regiment and is entrusted with keeping it combat effective at all times. If any Unteroffizier is unable to resolve an issue or answer a question, they bring it first to the Feldwebel before the Hauptmann. The Feldwebel helps to distribute information to the platoons and assists the Hauptmann in running the Kompanie. He is also free to assist platoons when need be.

Fahnenträger(Ft): This is the flag bearer of the Kompanie, this person's role is quite simple to represent the regiment with the banner of their regiment of course, this is a decorative rank,  so that the role of this person will be to make sure that the regiment is all organized, because the flag bearer will be stationed at the very rear of the formation, so that the person will be required to organize the second rank, and watch the behind from say, cavalry attacks.

Leutnant/Oberleutnant(Lt/OLt): These are the lowest ranking Offiziere in the regiment and act as Platoon leaders. It is their job to run their respective platoon and oversee it's performance in battle. Each Leutnant is entrusted with distributing information, taking accountability, and coordinating with their Unteroffiziere to ensure that their platoon is combat effective. During battle, Leutnants will take command of their respective platoons and follow the overall orders of the Hauptmann. Oberleutnants, although higher ranking than Leutnants and first to assume command of the Kompanie in the case of the Hauptmann's death, are considered to be of the same rank as Leutnants. Therefore, Leutnants do not address Oberleutnants as sir, nor do they take orders from them unless the OLt be acting as the Kompanie Commander.

Hauptmann(Hpt): The Hauptmann is the highest ranking Offiziere at the Kompanie level. He oversees the command of the Kompanie and leads it during battle. It his his job to coordinate with the battalion and lead his Kompanie in compliance with the overall battle plan. Any battalion orders are passed to the Hauptmann first and he will distribute them to the platoon level. The Hauptmann is expected to understand operation and manuevers at the strategic and tactical level and to maneuver his Kompanie according to the "big picture".

Major(Major): The Major is the third in command of the Nr.4 Regiment of Foot, the job of this individual will to organize  the Hauptmann to insure that they have a understanding on how to command a Zug, the high command on some occasions will command a Zug, usually in the future, the high command members will follow the Zug from behind, and they will coordinate the movements of the Zuge with the rest of the High command.

Oberst Leutnant(ObLt): The Oberst Leutnant is the second in command of the Nr.4 Regiment of Foot, the job of this individual is the exact same as the Oberst, they will organize the ranks and the promotions, also the organization of the trainings and of course this individual will be apart of the High command, and he will follow the Zuge in the case of the Oberst dieing this rank will be next in line to command the Regiment.

Oberst(Oberst):
The Oberst is in command of the Nr.4 Regiment of Foot, the job of this individual is to manage the whole of the regiment, the person has the power to decide who can become officers, also they will organize the events such as line battles, and this individual shall function as a organizer amongst other regiments.

Very nice work, first Austrian unit I've seen and I've always wondered why. Best of luck to you!

EDIT: Although a suggestion I have is removing the bold font, it makes it really hard to read, maybe bold key/important parts or just the titles.  :wink:
