Played some multiplayer with a friend, was a lot of fun. Can only imagine this with more people :P

By the way, what is the siege mode? The attackers just lie down and sleep :shock: (By the way, awesome onager that can fire)

It's a little unclear at first- the attackers kill engineers operating the onagers while the defenders kill the enemy engineers as well.

Siege mode: the trebuchets do not work, only the onagers.

I should explain with a full description, but the basic idea is that this is the lull between assaults. You raid the other side, try to burn their catapults/siege stores, and then get back to your own lines. If you get near the enemy, they will wake up.

Attackers can use the ladders to get in and the sally doors to get out. Defenders use the sally doors to go both ways. If you hit backspace, you get a schematic of the battlefield showing your objectives and the enemy's objectives, but I'll replace that with icons marking the objectives.

If you burn an objective, you will not see flames. I need to add that, and I'll also probably make the catapult missiles burn. It's not altogether historical but it looks cooler.

I played the siege mode a little and was again really impressed, this is exactly the kind of mission I would love to have during a siege in a singleplayer game, to delay or advance a siege. I really hope some of the more historical/ architectural mod are going to let you use some of their scene prop, cause now i want to siege/defend constantinople! You must be tired of compliment instead of some little test feedback so here it is:
In Kiev, some of the defending troops that spawn near you get stuck in the houses and one of the tower is one meter high from the ground, and so are the beds in the middle tower. The ladder on the right doesnt arrive on the breach on the wall, but just near it.
The sally door don't get stairs, the player can jump to pass, but not the retainee. But maybe thats intended this way?
Otherwise sneaking past sleeping sentry is a lots of fun! I haven't been able to get back yet, but i am working on it. :P

Thanks! The city scenes aren't complete, so I'd expect to see a lot of bots stuck in odd spots and floating buildings.

I'd definitely like a Constantinople-like set-up. The problem is that the mod scripts require a single wall. (The layout inside the city can be much more varied). I've even been doing new reskinned walls so that I don't have to alter the collision meshes, which reduces the chance of having bot-trapping corners and the like. These walls can have minor alterations (ie, to the tops of the crenellations) or roofs, but not much beyond that.

A Byzantine-like texture, with layers of white and red bricks/stonework, would be great though. If anyone wants to take a look at Mistra or Daphne monastery and try to get that into a wrap-around texture, I'd be very grateful. It would need to be wrap-around, though -- preferably vertical as well as horizontal, so that towers don't look like stretched versions of the wall.

I downloaded Constantinople 1453 and will see how they do it.

An update, for those following --

I'm testing out the siege on the naval server now. I'm using an updated version of the game, so players probably will not be able to join.

I hope to have a North American server up shortly. It will be the Empires of Faith switchover update (CR 0.301). I'll also rename and update the existing server, so it will also require 0.301.
