Above post makes me think about the campaign in Egypt, lead by general Napoleon Bonaparte.
When the enemy sent out an army that would certainly defeat the French, Bonaparte managed to escape to France. (The rest of the fleet couldn't, since the Mediterranean was blocked off.) 30,000 men were left for dead and the other French generals in France didn't have the guts to blame Napoleon for it.

Theres a reason people think he is an antichrist
"Remember, I come from Mu." was all he said. Dumbfounded by such wisdom, all among them slopped to their knees, worshiping the wise prince as their city burned."

By what is considered by many an inferior race.
You mean this?

No. I don't think race has any impact whatsoever, what matters is the culture.

none of this matters. the only last stand worth taking is a personal one against your own nature.

the only action worth taking is suicide.

First battle of Zawiya, March 2011.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Battle_of_Zawiya

Civilians versus an armored brigade, and they held two weeks. This was before NATO. The Zawiya fighters probably saved Misrata and the entire rebellion in the west.

Gallipoli??
Gallipoli was an invasion in Turkey, by the allied forces, it was the place the ANZAC's became famous, and gained world renown, for courage mateship, it was not a last stand.
It was a beginning of a legacy.
i know this because i did a essay about it for an compition by the Tasmanian history society or whatever there called.

How about:
Battle of the Golden Spurs

An army of Flemmish peasants with nothing more than maces, improvised polearms(reworked pitch forks...), the Geldon and a few swords.
The Flemmish had about 9000 men, all infantry. (The 400 nobles never really did anything.) They had no armor, but a few self-made leather vests.

The French had 8000 men,but 2500 were noble cavalry, the rest consisted out of crossbowmen, spearmen and other infantry.
About a thousand cavalerists were killed and another thousand got wounded.

The French Royal army had to retreat, which was a disgrace for the King of France, to lose against the counts of Flanders.
Unfortunately, the Flemmish lost the following battles.

The British Empire didn't end after WW1...

I would not debate with this. Both Russian and British hegemony "ended" after the failed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallipoli_Campaign   It was the trigger.

An age ended at that time.

An if the Turks had lost that war, there would have been no single Turkish person alive left in Anatolia today.
