Not only were they common, they were mandatory for French hussars. There are even some humourous anecdotes about new recruits having to wear fakes until they grew their hair long enough to braid.

The practice of wearing braids on the side of the face became associated with grenadiers and light cavalry in the 17th century, but by the Napoleonic-era French hussars were the only ones still wearing them.

That clip from The Duellists reminds me that the screenshots of the French Hussars on the first page are extremely outdated.

There are several significant changes since I last showed this uniform, but the most obvious is that I changed it from the 6th regiment to the 3rd, as I prefer the colouring.

do we have a general idea of what the maps will look like (as i said i am new so i cant read all the posts) and the hussar looks great but are there going to be more colors to customise your player for example colors from diferent battalions ? i have seen hussars wearing the same uniform in blue and at red.

I know you dont like the idea of beta to early Docm, but I had a Idea. To get people hyped over the release a version were all you can do is custom battles. So therefore you can show people some of your work without going into the incomplete campaign.

I've considered that very thing, but the problem is that none of the new orders or formations or AI improvements are present in the custom battles and I don't see it as being all that wise to devote time to getting them working only to release an imcomplete demo.

Bloc, as I have said in the past, the first release will be focused on the War of the Fifth Coalition which the Ottomans were not involved in. As such, I haven't started work on the Turks yet.

well as i asked before. at a later release (i read somewhere) there will be added the ottoman empire. will other nation of the balkan region will be added too? or they will be added as the ottomans empire fiefs?

Hussars where light cavalary but fearless will the morale difer from unit to unit? (according to level) for example is there going to be any routs of poor peasants while they will be shooted by my lines? or they will charge untill they get killed? and will injuries slow you down at your moves? (or npcs). and what about hostages are you going to use blunt wheapons ot just a shooting to their feet will be enought?
