[S] Csatádi's Visual and Historical Mod - New Update 5 Feb 2013
Csatádi:
This mod is actually my home mod in which I wanted to test some modding possibilities and added historical info later to improve gaming experience.
You cannot found your own kingdom (only became ruler during the story), nor have fantasy weapons, zombies or such.
At first some basic suggestions not specially to the mod but to the game in general:
-Recruiting. You may hire soldiers in the town center of cities and castles after you joined a faction. Until then mercenaries from inns, mercenary posts and freed prisoners. Mercenaries are expensive I suggest freeing prisoners. It doesn't worth to hire peasants at all they are very weak.
-If you don't find a lord, lost companion or ruler wait some weeks (1-5) and they will respawn. During this time lords tell you they don't know the location of that lord.
-You shouldn't capture any settlement until you get a quest to do so because you may destroy your storyline.
Taking back captured settlements must be safe except the AI got them due a script. This case is very obvious, it was for me at least. I think this is important only until you get quests like conquering certain nations.
-How to improve my relationship with a faction? Save metayers, help nobles to fight, kill bandits in villages and similar.
-Black Mace quest bug warning: keep a saved game before supporting Radziwill! You have to conquer Kiev before the rebellion ends otherwise the questline code will stop. A script gives it to Poland but you must hurry because other nations may conquer it! Radziwill is in his settlement you gave him even if you don't see him on the troop list. So you can get your reward. I suppose after you spoke with the mayor you may win the rebellion. This is a vanilla feature so please don't complain in mod thread.

News
-2 new settlement icons
-the map icon of the settlements are now similar to the wall type on the battlefield. Sometimes it was disturbing to see a stone fort on the map and meet a wooden pallisade in the siege. They might need different tactics etc so I find this better.
-some city location changes
-economy changes: For example I limited olives where they were actually produced, put salt resource to Cracow to represent the famous Polish salt mines, and limit the date fruits to Crimean cities. Date was produced in far Southern lands but it may appear in the Crimea by trade. And made Reval a mediocre velvet resource. European velvet production was important and Brugge was the most important source for Northern Europe. Removed grape production of Vilna because grape can be produced only on a small southern part of the map and not at all so far north.
-elite black armor got gold decorations
-lesser corrections
The current pack contains
-3 new companions with dialogs. Some rewritten relations. For example it is possible now to use all the 3 Tatar companions in your army.
-Companion refinements: faces, equipment, abilities
-20 village bugfix (replacing all the Swedish and some Polish ones)
-Allenstein siege bugfix, both ladders and exploded walls and other siege pathfinding improvements.
-Corrected Turkish shields, they are held now in the right angle. (see pictures in the forum)
-New, historical faces for rulers (see pictures in the forum), helmets and better equipment for lords
-Item rebalances, for example the special handmade things are better than the ordinary ones. In my mod not the Dutch pistol is the best gun while mounted but the Dutch carbine. Single barrelled guns are a little bit better than double barrelled ones. Pistols are less accurate because it was strange to shot down somebody from 50-80 meter distance. There are now good sabres. Horses are expensive - as in reality. Textile armors are cheap so you can waste some money on them before you have enough to buy a real armor.
-Nationalized items. You can buy Swedish items only in Sweden etc. There are a few exceptions but not much.
-15 new or retextured horses. Arabian horses from warband, Akhal teke horses - well known in the area and further Thoroughbred variants. Buying horses at the special merchants does worth now and they offer more types.
-New helmets and armors, Turkish-Eastern European Broadsword, map icons, moustaches, Asian face texture, etc.
-Hussar lances transform to sabres after the first blow. Hussars were useless in close combat with those huge lances.
-Guns cannot parry or used in melee because the AI uses it wrongly parrying a lot when there is no enemy around.
-Reiter-type soldiers have only 3 bullets for their firearms because they should use their swords more than pistols. This 3 bullets are more deadly (+7). This type of bullets are available in shops. I use them for my companions, too, because I guess they kill more with melee weapons.
-Hungarian Hussar mercenaries.
-Flour sack, Silk and Wool cloth texture change. Flour sack used the salt texture and their same look was very annoying. Wool cloth and Silk were the same like linen cloth.

At first I have changed companions in my game. The reason was the dialogs, abilities and equipments should suit to each other. In some cases I found the companions weak and gave a few skills.
TEPES
In the dialogs he calls himself being from Wallachia, another time from Transylvania. Historically the family is from Wallachia. Dracula was called Vlad and not Vladislav.
Dracula's descendants remained princes of the Romanian principalities when they were successful at the Ottoman court.
To reflect these I rewrote some dialog lines:
str_npc2_backstory_a|I am the last survivor of an ancient house of Valash rulers. My famous ancestor, Vlad Dracula, was the scourge of the Turks, Voivode of Valachia and a Lord of Transylvania!
str_npc2_backstory_b|We got the Dracul name because my ancestor was initiated in the Dragon Knight Order of Hungary. But Dracul means also devil in Valash language and caused dreadful rumors that my ancestor had a thirst for blood. It is a terrible lie! He just impaled a few thousand of his enemies! These legends and tales have become the bane of our family. We fought constantly for the control of Valachia and sometimes Moldavia and most of my ancestors grew up in Istambul as hostages. Some of them even converted to Islam. My father was born as an illegitimate child and never became a voivode. He left our ancient homeland, and I grew up in Kamenets, near the border. For a while now I have lived the life of a wanderer. It is not the life I would have chosen...
KARLSSON
The sunlight colors his hair to reddish but it's light brown anyway. Originally I wanted to make him blonde but Mikael the Finnish companion became blonde and I didn't want so much blondes.
FEDOT
The dialog says he has a poleaxe but in the game he had a sabre. He was a marksman thus I gave him a poleaxe and enough strenght to use it.
BAKHYT
New face code because not African.
VICTOR
Black hair and different moustache.
NOGAI
His face resembled too much to Borcha from Warband. He has the new Asian face texture.
OKSANA
She easily can be a good explorer or even a healer which suits better to her than fighting.
Funny hat added:
VARVARA
A bit less nice look.
FATIMA
Muslim women need some headgear. I took one from civilian women.
Clothes changed. She mentions to buy chainmail. It may be too much at the beginning thus I choosed her a quilted robe.
She took Klethi's role however I think a dagger-throwing dagger specialist is not suitable as a bodyguard in 1655. Therefore she got jarids. I made jarids available in Tatar shops at a very low rate.
Stronger face instead of her baby face.
str_npc16_signup|I am ready to follow you even into Shaitan's jaws. I am adept at using the yataghan -- and an excellent marksman.
str_npc16_payment|Thank you! But first, please give me {reg3} thaler. I have found an excellent undercloth armor. Without proper armor, what sort of a bodyguard would I be?
Text changes: 1 knife to yataghan 2 removed chain from chain armor.

KING JAN CASIMIR
I changed his face to resemble better to this painting. I removed wings from the hand-crafted hussar armor as you can see on the picture. This kind of armor is available at armorsmithes in the town centers. This way the player might have a hussar armor but the wings doesn't hinder the sight on the screen.
KARL GUSTAV
TSAR ALEXEY
He's just 26 years old in 1655.
BOGDAN HMELNITSKY
I wanted to reflect he is 60 years old in 1655.
QUEEN KRISTINA
wasn't so cute at all :)
These are the new companions:
Recruitademt:
Wow, great changes, fit more than the old ones.
--- Quote from: Csatádi on September 19, 2011, 10:16:03 PM ---I gave real helmets for all lords. Many of them had just hats.
--- End quote ---
Oh, no. The real Swedish lords actually weared hats :(
DrSlugger:
Nice job. :)

If you observe it they weared mostly wigs and not hats.
Hats could be resolved, too however in reality they didn't fought while in M&B they are in the first line.

Technical note:
If you use my files the modified companions will appear only in a new game.
Recruitademt:
No they actually weared hats out in the battlefield + they lead the men as they do in this game.
