The ONLY time I have seen Horse Artillery put to practice, it wasn't even a damn horse! During the period, a piece called a "Mountain Howitzer" could be broken down and put on the backs of Mules in three parts: the Gun, the Limber, and extra misc. items. (A seperate mule would be used for ammunition).
I stand corrected! After years of "Horseless Artillery" the Union pulled out a suprise they have been working on in my community of men.... For the first time, I have experienced the Horse Artillery on March 31st, and let me tell you folks, it really was a sight to be hold....... for the 20 minutes it took to watch them hook it up and skee-daddle with their cowering tail between their legs while my Company captured it....
If the developers do put something like this in, whether be on horseback or limbering up with a horse mount; there should be a stiff Time Penalty for setting up the cannon and getting it ready to fire. I suppose 3 minutes would be sufficent. (Actual time is 10-15) Please dont argue about a time penalty if this is put into the mod. (If you want to pull a 600 pound brass cannon off a mule in under 3 minutes, then good for you)
A more feesable idea about moving a artillery piece would be pushing, but is still a very time consuming chore.
Not an idea..... a
REALITY! The horse artillery is a "Works on Paper" kind of deal.....
For Vic: The way they balanced it, Cavalry guards the gun crew and pieces for Horse Artillery, but are commanded by a Artillery commander (Or overall commander).
