If it takes 2 years to build some scenes and the task is still not complete then either the mod's scope and aims are unfeasible or it simply isn't being worked on.
It's more than scenes, as i've quite clearly pointed out.
As it is, alpha or not, it's a lot fun, quite pretty, fairly polished and it feels quite balanced. Some basic finishing would take a couple of days and polishing could come later.
No, it takes well more than that. I cannot release a mod which has unfinished AI meshes for scenes, no soldiers for factions, nor with incomplete scripting, which has red text floating about on account of missing global variables, or missing references.
Perhaps we have different perspectives on the definition of 'polished'.
There's really no point leaving great content to rot on hard drives. If there is no longer interest or time to complete it, then it's time to let the community work on it. Settlements can come later.
You going to make such a pronouncement to for example, to the EB2 team, or perhaps here the TLD team?
Both of which have more active contributors, certainly EB2 which has well more, and all of them to take considerable time. A total conversion is not a drop in the bucket. And we do this on our free time, not getting paid to do so in the process.
And if there should be any concessions required, i'm quite well on making a concious decision myself.
