What type of helmet is this?
Spong:
I've been playing around with modding and have found a model of a helm I recognise as being historically accurate but I've never heard what its real name is. Everywhere I find it its simply referred to as a Jousting Helm with a 'frogmouth' style (whatever that means), but many helms were used for jousting and they had thier own names. I originally thought it was a jousting style of Armet but I'm not so sure. I want to give this one its real name in my mod, I know alot of people here are quite well informed on their medieval arms and armour (as am I but I do have my limits) so I was wondering if anyone could put a name to it?
Here are some pictures I found of it:

Thanks to anyone who replies.
Frost_Knight:
holy jumping helmet lord, that is usually called a Great Helm, i think, or as u said jousting helm, it doesn't have a particularly name, anyways like the drawing(second link) a lot, wanna get recruited in my fanatic cult of helmet worshipers?
Spong:
Lol, freaky helmet worshipping.
I thought that this was a great helmet: http://mysite.verizon.net/tulkaz/greathelmfaceon.jpg
I understand that some terms such as great helmet or joutsing helmet may have been used generically to describe a large helmet which rests on the shoulders but what I mean is I'm sure the style has its own name, Its like people who know a little about guns sometimes describe submachineguns generically as uzis.
This site says its a grand bascinet! (wtf? no it isn't!) http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://mysite.verizon.net/tulkaz/greathelmfaceon.jpg&imgrefurl=http://mysite.verizon.net/tulkaz/gallery.html&h=943&w=635&sz=25&hl=en&start=8&tbnid=sOEe0Og_DPJJ_M:&tbnh=148&tbnw=100&prev=/images%3Fq%3DGreat%2BHelm%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DG
