could the option to copy the files back and forth be the problem at all?

maybe I had been working on the map without the manager, and since I set the manager to open that file (which was in the original M&B modules folder) it may have overwritten it with the Warband map

Absolutely right, Estoral.
I sincerely hope that you had the "Create backups" option checked, because if it wasn't, your map will be overwritten.*
Maybe I have to explain more thoroughly how the Manager works.
- First, it's assumed that you want to use the 1.011 mod folder in order to edit your Warband mod.
- The Manager takes your Warband map files and overwrites the map files in the 1.011 folder.*
- It launches the MapEditor. You can now edit your desired map.
- After editing, if you have the "Auto Move Files..." checkbox checked, the Manager will overwrite the old Warband map files with the new Warband map files.

* If you have ticked the "Create Backups" checkbox, all of your files will be backed up before editing (saved in a *.txt.bak format).
Unfortunately, if you've launched the Manager more than once, your original 1.011 map might be lost (The manager would have saved your latest editing) - the application does not use incremental backing up of files.

ya my problem was that I had opened it with the manager (the old SQL version) worked on it, ditched the manager and was working on it directly, and then opened it with the new manager overwriting it, which I feel will be very hard for anyone to do accidentally so I don't see this as a problem with the program, was frustrating for me but that was all due to my own stupidity, or more my haste to try out the new manager without thinking it through.

This isn't exactly related to the manager, but the editor. Do you know why when I'm adding object, as I press the plus or minus some objects don't even appear? Sorry if I'm going a bit off topic but I thought it would be easiest to ask here seeing as you know how to use it with warband.

Hi! When I try to run Thorgrim's Map Editor I get errors,
first one is "Could not find M&B path, using local directory instead".
Second one is: "LoadDDSTextureFile couldn't find, or failed to load /textures/quests_window.dds".
Third one is: "LoadDDSTextureFile couldn't find, or failed to load /textures/trees.dds".
Last one is a Runtime error.

Also, I ticked the option in MapManager, but I still get the same errors

What can I do?
(I have NET Framework)

In order to use this, first make sure you have the Editor up and running properly. There are plentry of threads dealing with Editor problems.

I'm having the EXACT same problem as KuroiNeou.  I followed up on some of the Editor threads (about 9 of them) and they all suggest changing the directory the Editor is trying to access in its settings file.  I don't think this is the issue for me -- I have tried all available path options, including setting it manually to the FULL M&B path.  It fixed the FIRST error, but now I get the second described error, plus lots of ambiguous "Could not load texture" error's, then file the third error and Runtime error.

I'm still searching the forums, but if you know of a fix to this, I would appreciate being directed to it or being told.  ;)  At this point it's like looking for a needle in a silver haystack.

Edit:  There is reason to suspect that it somehow has something to do with Steam (although I don't understand why, if I'm pointing to the right directory).  I'll test the theory by finding a non-Steam download of the game to test with, but the results of that may be a while.  :(  My "cable" internet service clocks in at a whopping 4-5kb/s.

Edit:  EDITED so that others who have this problem may benefit.

You must download the ORIGINAL version of Mount&Blade off the Taleworlds' website.  It cannot be the Steam demo.  Install it into a directory path that DOES NOT HAVE SPACES (I have no idea why that matters, but it does on my PC).  I have mine installed in C:/Mount&Blade.  Then, install Thorg's MapEditor INSIDE the Mount&Blade folder.  It should now work perfectly.

Then you can use this tool.  All is well. :)

This looks suspiciously as if it might just solve my problem. Even though the MapEditor DID work a while ago for me, though I'm not sure if that was on this computer. Oh well, I'm moving M&B to somewhere without spaces. It's taking a while but with some luck it might work, thanks.

Edit; Nope, still the exact same ******** problem. ****.

Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. Play Vikingr!

How exactly does the MapEditor not work for you? I have a lot of experience with it (read: frustration in order to get it to work), so I might be of some help.

No sorry, I may have slightly hijacked your thread by accident because I forgot it was about your MapManager rather than the map editor it self; I can't run Thorgrim's map editor at the moment. :(

*sigh*... This tool only adapts the Editor to work with Warband seamlessly, it does not fix the regular "can't find *.dds" errors that the Editor shows when installed incorrectly.
In order to use the MapManager, first make sure that your Editor does not bring up any errors.

Make sure your games are installed properly and that their registry keys exist; otherwise the Editor won't be able to find your game.

Your other alternative is to use one of the others, like Swy's cartographer.

In any case, just know that the errors that Thorgrim's Editor is giving you are a result of user error, not anybody else's. ;)
