Mount&Blade: Warband > The King's Court - Suggestions

Auxiliaries

Hellequin:
I dunno; messing with slot totals doesn't strike me as optimal.  Too much involvement from what should be optional and peripheral only.  I like the tradeoff question; is it really economical to add a Smith in your precious 16 slots?  Makes Charisma just a hair more important.  Later on it's certainly more useful than adding a twentieth Vaegir Footman; it's certainly less so than that first Vaegir Knight.

If the designers feel that the tension of the tradeoff is too strongly in favour of simply adding more troops, then a better solution would be to alter the number of slots used by some or all aux troops.  Perhaps the Camp Follower doesn't use up a slot; she just eats and has a risk of appearing onfield.  Perhaps the Hunter and Cook use only half a slot each, while Squires and Smiths use a full one.  Something like that.  Still preferable to boost the functionality of them, and the penalties for not having one, to the point where they're at least potentially worth devoting a slot to; then leaving the rest to player taste.

Leprechaun:
Well since the new version that's not a problem. There are unlimited slots in a party, the only limiting factor is your total party size. And if you've got a charisma level worth actually getting an army with, that's not an issue.

Sonoton:
But you wouldn't expect to see people like that in a battlefield wouldn't you? The battlefield is only used for fighting.

Hellequin:
I would expect to see them within reach of the battle... and, occasionally, on the battlefield, yes.  It's all about the chaos - and that includes who's where, when.  Hence the suggestion that they should definitely have a default order of Hold, not Charge... if you have guys on the field who need protecting, you'll have to actively do so, either by moving combat troops to screen them, or by charging and putting the locus of combat out of reach of them.
