[Idea] Enlist in an army feature!

This idea is not mine. Here's the original post:

And here's a quote so you have the idea:

The biggest challenge with this idea is to ensure you actually get to fight.
The AI might just travel around or sit in a castle doing nothing.
So it should be a bit like 'follow the king' quest, where they immediately begin conquering.

Maybe I'm late to suggest, but there is a solution:

WHEN a lord sets out for a campain, you get a call to arms, like a request to meet your marshal when you're a lord. When you talk to the lord, you then stick to his party and being dragged around the map in 'prisoner mod' with all that've been suggested. And when the campaign is finished (usually after 2-3 battles and a siege), you receive an escape screen and become free again, having this quest completed. So you are a free man, being able to buy better equipment and have another job for a while untill you get another call to arms, but your rank and statistics are preserved!

Talking about wages, I think that it would be just fair if you get the same amount as the regular native troop type you are concidered as. It means that, as a rank, you have an actual status of being for example swadian militia, swadian trained militia etc and receiving their actual upkeep price. But this won't do - even as a knight you will receive your miserable 64d/a week. Then general economic rebalance will be required, or just the way to eliminate 'easy money' for commoners in order to achieve the ballance - see the link to my own suggestion below. Also, you get fixed equipment and can't bring your own - i.e. you can't be a rhodoc crossbowman throwing javelins and fighting with two-handed axe.

It's just the one way, the other way is that you gain payment proportional to your level/whatever and are a unit with uique equipment and formal rank, but that way you upgrade at your own expences.

And don't forget that even according to native as a lord you get only a share of money and loot from battle won and village looted - and that share is far not the biggest (you hardly ever get 500 den even if you crash 200 men withought allies) - so as a soldier you will be able to snatch a piece from any successfull action too.

Cromcrom:
Hmmmm, from my point of view, it would be really really hard to code. Not the prisonner like follow mode, but the fact that the player wouldn't be the party leader... So in this case, all "p_main_party" codes would be innoperative. It would require some deep digging here....

Winterz:
Hell yes! This is what I always wanted!

I think there was already a guy who posted that feature on the forums but it was separate and only to adavanced users because it was only a file with the codes.

Cromcrom:
Well, I read deeper into the thread, until I come on Ithilienranger's mod. I will take a look, although it is not on my priority list...  :(

Nordous:
Cromcrom, it's all just for you to know! :D Nothing more.
