I think Tom Cruise and I are around the same height, and about equally crazy. Did you know, he's a Ducati fan as well?  :P

Are you a scientologist as well?!
They wanted to have a good time, but they were like children playing in the street; they could see one after another of them being killed -- run over, maimed, destroyed -- but they continued to play anyhow. We really all were very happy for a while, sitting around not toiling but just bullshitting and playing, but it was for such a terribly brief time, and then the punishment was beyond belief; even when we could see it, we could not believe it.

Rode my bike for the first time ever at sea level. HOLY SHIT. The damn thing is wheeling everywhere up to fifth gear.

It's a combination of a 20% power increase from altitude and the bike running well from a minor service. Next, I'll be getting a major service done, AND having it dyno'd and tuned.

Sweet. I'm still struggling to find time to get out on mine. And also find weather that isn't torrential downpour and flash floods. Some guy drowned yesterday. Just glad I live on a hill.

Haha, cute dog. Though the lights on the front of the car remind me of a Fazer or Daytona.

It's actually modelled after the Ducati 1098.

I had to take the basic rider's course again, and I was the only one in the class to ace it. I don't think the course itself is useless, but at most it only prepares people to ride motorcycles that have less than 35 horsepower. There was one guy who is in the same training command as me who passed the class, but with the lowest score in the class. His plan is to buy a brand new R1 now. I told him not to, because he'll seriously kill himself and if he does, our commander will **** every bike rider in the command with a rusty kukri right in the *******. That will actually happen, no joke. While I don't generally support the restrictions that the UK places on motorcycle riders, I can definitely see the reasoning behind it. I just hate it when people like myself, who do the intelligent thing and get a lot of experience before moving up to a big bike get fucked over by retards who think they can handle a 160hp superbike.

Sounds like you need to beat some sense into him before your commander does. Those rusty kukri can be a pain in the ass, I hear. Pun totally intended.

Also, I ride my bike at sea-level sometimes (one of my favourite rides is over to the coast) but never really notice much of an increase in power. Then again, I have to ride sensibly as the wind has a nasty habit of blowing sand all over the roads along the front.

The difference between 5,500 feet above sea level (Albuquerque, NM) and at sea level is huge, it's about a 20% power difference. Considering that Britain is fairly low, I'm betting you don't really do much riding above 1,000 feet MSL. You won't even feel a difference in 2,000 feet of elevation change. What's noticeable is when you start talking miles in elevation change. For instance, at the top of the mountain we went riding at every weekend, the elevation is 2 miles above sea level. That's almost a 40% decrease in power from what you'd have at sea level.

Ahh, kooky. And yeah, I live in the uplands, but I don't think they're more than a few hundred metres above sea-level to begin with.

Some pretty big news in the world of MotoGP. Valentino Rossi is going back to Yamaha. There were rumors earlier in the week from an errant twitter, apparently, but now it seems more official with numerous sources saying that he's going back to the Yamaha. Kinda sucks for Ducati, since Rossi is a great test riders and contributed greatly to Yamaha's success when developing their winning GP bike back in the earlier 2000's. Ducati only had him for one season, which means they're not going to have him to develop next years GP bike. Their current GP bike pretty much sucks for the way Rossi rides, so he never had a good bike to race with while on a Ducati, which led to him switching to Yamaha.

More Ducati related stuff. Most people know about the 1199 Panigale, well, here's the MANigale!
