Hey there!

I just installed SoD:WL 3.0B and now i'm wondering how I can train some troops without owning a castle or town. Is combat the only way to level up my troops without owning a center? If so, what is the trainer skill for then? Noobish question but I am completely new to your mod :D.

Besides this it looks like a decent mod with very interesting changes. Keep up the good work! I'm eager to see more from you guys!

Best regards

This question is fine Valorus, Welcome to the forum! So you want to be able to train troops without a castle or town? Well, combat is one method; going to the training camps and dueling is another, doing quests for people are a good way for your heroes to upgrade. But until you do have a castle or a town in your name, boost up your trainer skill to at least level one to give your troops experience overnight. In 3.0B when you earn a castle or a town you get reinforcements based on the population of your villages.

You can also buy a barracks, Practice Range, and Stables to let your troops upgrade to new levels. Though there is a max level to doing so for each troop. Your lower level troops like recruits will upgrade to acceptable levels but not to elite levels. In 4.0 I've improved this system much much further (and fixed the upgrade pathing). I'll also end up adding mercenaries in the mix, and town population will have some greater involvement in the recruiting of troops.

Thanks for the reply computica!

I facepalmed myself yesterday when I (re)discovered that the Trainer skill only works on troops after you leveled up your main char to a certain level, because the actual trainer level only determines how fast the troops level up.     I completely forgot this when I created my new character.

Stupid mistake of my own!!! :D

Nice mod and great work computica! Looking forward to your full release. The 3.0B seems to be very stable so far and I love the new features!

The trainer skill has some hidden effects on some other things too. Just think all things that need training...

high faith should increase the chance of your top tier nobles upgrading to faith troops

Now that I think about I should make that (faith) the factor for if a troop (Zealot) will upgrade to a Faith troop while garrisoned. Right now it's just once a week but faith as the factor makes so much sense.

Nothing except Choose the type of Faith Troop you have, and the rate at which top tier Nobles become Zealots. I'll add much more support for faith later.

Just thinking about faith reminds me of how long of a task this will take...  :?

Anyways If anyone has an idea on what benefits or factors faith can have, feel free to post in the suggestions topic...

Hello, if i remember correctly in SOD on M&B you could take a castle and tell your chamberlan that you needed a new lord and after a day for so they could join and then they would work for you, is this still in or is it going to be taken out because of the new way to make lords?

The answer is kinda. I believe Comp said in 4.0 you will be able to recruit a few lords from the mainland. Again thats only a few lords and I believe the cost goes up for each one.

Hey, I'm wondering, is not being able to have more then 5000 taxpayers in a town a bug, or is that some kind of hardcoded limit?

Thanks! I appreciate it.

It's more of a set limit than a hard-coded one. I'm still adjusting population mechanics.

Alright, I understand, thanks for the quick answer!

P.S. I think I found a bug, when a town reaches 5000 people it's wealth slowly starts to decay, I've seen this happen with two towns, Rayshore and Ashlyn, both towns got to 5000 people and slowly the prosperity went from rich to very poor after a few in-game weeks, does the population have anything to do with the prosperity or are those towns just going through economy problems?
