I've started a new game with the compass disabled. I found the game much more immersive, I'm now more aware of my surroundings, and it makes exploring fun. The only problem is finding some quest targets, but at least Clairvoyance will have some use now - or so I thought.

That spell is worse than any GPS. It always has to find the nearest road, and then sticks to the paved way only. It leads you through all the S-turns and curves and whatnot, leading on the longest way possible. Tell me, why, oh why does it not show the straight route to the target, and lets me decide if I want to check out all the tourist attractions of the hold along the way?

Doesn't that make the game a bit broken? The lack of quest pointers in Morrowind had a certain charm to it, but it only worked because the developers chose to not have them, and had directions dialogue for quest locations instead. How are you supposed to find anything when you have neither?

The map and landmarks help. And when the target is not that far away, clairvoyance is actually useful.
Plus you can get your bearings by the sun and the stars.

I know right? That's why I downloaded a mod that highlights all enemies on screen then automatically attacks them for me. I don't know why they decided to waste time with things like looking for enemies or spending your time fighting them just to get where you're going in the default game. It just wasted my time.

In all seriousness though disabling the compass was one of the first things I did when playing the game, alongside fast travel. What's the point in a wide open world where everything is as close as a fast travel loadscreen away, the only thing you need to pay attention to to get where you're going is the HUD and you never round a corner to find yourself surprised by something new or unexpected because it's map marker icon showed up five minutes ago. If I was more concerned with instant gratification than the experience I wouldn't be wasting my time playing video games I'd just take up a drug habit.

There are genetic predispositions for everything. Some people are genetically predisposed to be horses, for example.

Now now now... Lets not talk about who wanks where and when..

Small question:

Is skyrim better than Morrowind? (compare it with when Morrowind came out to when Skyrim came out)
Wait Mikkel is Danish????

Hey guys! Haresus is here, starting his first lessons in READING COMPREHENSION.

Lesson number one:

Lesson number two:
After you read it, do not just remove bits and pieces here and there in order to make your own dream sentence.

Lesson number three:
Observe your surroundings. This can be anything from reading earlier posts to get a good overview of what people are talking about, to seeing the Administrator banner above his avatar. If you see that Administrator banner, and you are thinking about saying something slightly negative, think again.

What Computica read:
If I was more concerned with instant gratification than the experience I wouldn't be wasting my time playing video games I'd just take up a drug habit.

What he should have read, if he had read and understood my three lessons:
If I was more concerned with instant gratification than the experience I wouldn't be wasting my time playing video games I'd just take up a drug habit.
I only agree with democracy if the people voting are sane.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum, dear Haresus.
"Hear my words and bear witness to my vow. Night gathers, and now my watch begins.  It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come."
