Yesterday after posting my problem I tried to optimize my systems further ( changing pagefile from 4GB to 6GB, squeezing to free more memory from services in gamebooster, defrag etc) After these  changes I played 3,51 about 2 hours with no CTDs  so I was thinkin that maybe just passed "crashing border"...

Today I,ve checked 3,51 again and first battle ended with crash...
Then I've used .txt files You posted - some time played with no problem (though had feeling that audio/music has lesser quality than 3,51), battles was ok ...Now CTD again but in diffrent moment - walking in city streets (Valonbray) ...
Will test further ..

This little update has no changes to sound quality (- it is just modifying text files to add more sounds to use stream from hdd rather than load into RAM at game initialization). So the only changes in sound would be that companion voice-overs are streamed from hdd (and the may now perhaps overlap if you fast-click through voice-over dialogues with companions). Streaming them from hdd delays the start of these voice-overs by about 0.2 seconds if you have a standard mechanical hard drive. Basically the patch I posted will save you about 100MB of files that are no longer loaded into RAM. This is the exact sound handling as in 3.50 otherwise. Well and some sounds in 3.51 had their actual sound file replaced with a new sound file (for example the coin sounds are using a new sound in 3.51 vs 3.50).

alright, ive got that daughter quest started, after talking with lord my party reduced from 215 to 113, got that save right before meeting, but i dont think this would be much of a help, i think its just hardcoded quest from native that is not quite compatible with pop's code, but this shouldnt be the cause and i might be wrong, i know claimant quest in native was bugged in similar way, it may be it that warband engine is bugged when player party gets new hero who is somehow connected with any quest

Don't think that's the issue, the claimant for Ravenstern worked just fine for me when i acquired her, no troops lost. Didn't have time to finish Ravenstern off, will see later if i still have that savegame around to finish.

How many different troop types (including the player) you had in your party before and after the "accident"? Was it more than 32 before, then exactly 32?

edit: alright, i see it cuts all soldiers after 30th stack, total amount of troops was different each try: 74, 113, 66, 81.
first 29 stacks(excluding the player) were left intact

i wonder what happens when companions take farthest places in the party...

thanks, that seems to be the key... the number of different troop stacks in a party

it wont make companions disappear, ive tried with 33, 32 and 31 types, these numbers were cut to 30 stacks then girl was added, always the bottom stacks dissapear

After reading all this new information about the issue with the rescue elder daughter and vanishing troops, I would strongly lean towards an error in the source code for the operator:
party_force_add_members

This operator is only used for the pretender code and for the rescue village elder daughter and since the issue is in those two quests it seems highly likely that the party_force_add_members operator (OP Code 1613) is buggy when the player's party consists of many troop slots (i.e. more than 30 slots).

So that operator likely can only use 30 elements in the party array.

Hi guys, i have a strange problem with the new PoP.
Basically, the game often CTD when «changing screen» (i.e. closing a dialog or a battle report).
Event viewer says its a «fmodex.dll» related error (Faulting application mb_warband.exe, version 1.0.0.0, faulting module fmodex.dll, version 0.4.40.3, fault address 0x000c56f4).

Also... never had any problem with ver. 3.42. What should i do?

Apparently, i dont have enough ram.
The odd thing is, PoP 3.42 was running just fine...but maybe  ver. 3.50/3.51 handles sound differently?

Anyway, i will try the «resource reduction patch» Treebeard posted.

Edit: It didnt work. The game still CTD just before the end of the battle. Not always, but often enough. And sometimes when i try to exit the game in order to reload a previous save.

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the cheering at the end of the battle.
If anyone knows how to "turn it off",  it would  be helpful.

In PoP 3.5 there are more new graphics that adds about 100MB of graphics files compared to PoP 3.42. Also the sounds have been upscaled to higher sound quality and changed from .wav to .flac. But in PoP 3.51 a lot of sounds are not loaded into memory at startup (instead they are streaming from HDD), so on the sound side PoP 3.51 may be less demanding than PoP 3.42.

I think you'll have to visit the links on the first page of this thread and see if they help (i.e. adjust VM and things like that).
You can try to force single-threading to see if that helps (in the pre-launch config options).
Last resort would be to disable all sounds to see if that helps (in pre-launch config).
