Chapter 1: Prologue

March 14. 1257

I am Warriv. I am a son of a mercenary captain. A dead mercenary captain. He was killed in a great battle near Alburq Castle... He was one of the first soldiers to die in the battle. It was the Vaegir army, leaded by King Yaroglek and a couple of lords, with about 700 soldiers, against about 600 Nord soldiers, leaded by 7 of the most powerful of their lords.

My father was killed in the first arrow volley. He got an arrow straight in his throat, and died merely minutes later, by bleeding to death. I want revenge over the Nord kingdom! I will lead a war party, under the command of King Yaroglek, and fight in his name.

March 22. 1257

Today I left Slezkh Castle, joining a caravan to Reyvadin. I took my squire equipment, so I was certainly ready for a fight, if it would be needed. They would pay me 30 denars if I would fight as a mercenary for them, to Reyvadin. About 30 other mercenaries were hired in the caravan, and I felt safe, even though we were passing through lots of bandit infested areas.

The winter in the Great Taiga has been hard, but I can feel the spring is coming soon. We marched from early in the morning until the sun had gone down. In the distance, we could see the walls of Reyvadin. The caravan master thanked me for my service, and paid me. With this money I could sleep a few nights in the tavern of the city.

This is Warriv.

Warriv's skills when he left Slezkh castle.

Chapter 2: The merchant, and the bandits pt. 1

March 23. 1257

I woke up. I had slept one of the best nights in months. It was certainly worth it to pay extra for these nice beds. It was still dawn, but I bought a hare steak from the tavern keeper, to fill my stomach. I finished my meal, and left the tavern. I walked in the streets of the big city of Reyvadin, and I was surprised how big this city actually was. I have only been in Curaw earlier, but this was a lot bigger than that.

Suddenly, I hear footsteps. Then, the  sound of a blade, being pulled out of the scabbard! My heart is racing. Fortunately, I have my sword with me. I pull it out, and get ready for a fight. Around the corner comes a bandit. He gets ready to strike his blade, but a quick thrust in his chest ends his life quickly. Shocked, I stand in the spot where I had killed the bandit. Another man comes running from the same corner as the bandit had come from.

«You stupid fool! Who goes out in the middle of night, in a big city like this? You have to be insane! Come with me, before anyone notices the dead man,» he says, almost angrily, but also disappointedly.
We walk quickly into his house, where he introduces himself. He is a well known merchant of Reyvadin. He tells me that the city long has been infested with bandits, from the inside out.
«I need you to help me. You look as a good fighter, would you help me with getting rid of the bandits? I need you to recruit volunteers from the villages nearby the city, so you can get some manpower to win some fights.»
«How many men would be needed?» I ask.
«About five. There is no problem if you feel like having more.» he answers to my question.

So I leave Reyvadin, and I ride to Ayyike, a nearby village. The village is poor, and many people are hungry. I ask the village elder if they have any volunteers. He says there are none, but I don't quite believe him. So I ask the villagers in person. Three villagers will fight for me, if they get food and shelter. That is more than the village can offer. I ride to the other village, Tebandra. I ask the village elder of this village. Six healthy men have nothing more to live for in the village, and wishes to fight for me. I ride back to Reyvadin. People are already awake, workers and guards are walking in the streets.

I get in the tavern, and tell the merchant that i have gotten nine volunteers. He tells me that he has seen a group of bandits outside the walls, and that they probably know where the bandit hideout is. Me and the group of volunteers have a look outside the city, and we see the bandits, strolling around the city wall. There is four of them. We charge against them, and as I am the only soldier with a horse, I got to the enemy first. The first one gets almost cleaved in half, as I swing my sword against his torso. I turn my horse, and suddenly I feel a powerful thud in my shoulder, followed by aching pain. Two of the bandits had begun throwing rocks at me! Enraged, I charge my horse right against them, and kill them quickly. The last one starts to fight the volunteers, but they knock him unconscious with a club.

Later, on the same day, he wakes up in the tavern, where I had brought him. I point my sword at his throat, and ask one question:
«Where is the bandit hideout!?». The man starts sobbing and crying and talks a lot of jibberish about going far away from here, and that he never would hurt anyone, and was forced to banditry by the high taxes. Finally, I get the answer to my question. There should be a cave near Ayyike, where the bandits gather all the plundered goods, and plan their next robberies.

It's almost midnight, and I ride with my party to the cave. After one hour of travelling, we finally get to the hideout. We see a campfire, and we sneak up right behind them. One of them sees us, and raises alarm! All the bandits in the hideout are coming to fight us! Fortunately for us, they are mostly drunk, and not harmful. It's a shame to kill men that can't even fight properly.

After all the bandits are finished, we plunder their plundered goods. Inside the cave, we find furs, food and money. Behind a bunch of crates, we find a man! He had been tied up, and was probably kidnapped! We untie him, and he starts thanking us:
«Thank you, oh thank you, o' mighty warriors! I never thought anyone would help me, I thought my life was over soon!»
I ask him who he is.
«I am brother of a well known merchant,» and he starts describing the merchant. He was talking about the merchant that saved me in Reyvadin! He joins our group back to the merchant, and when we get there, the merchant is very happy to see us.
«Brother! You're back! Thank you for freeing him!»
«You didn't tell us anything about a kidnapped brother,» I say, kind of surprised.
«Well, I couldn't tell you about him, I thought you would think I am a selfish bastard... For only wanting you to free my brother...»
«Well, I am happy to help,» I say happily, take farewell with the merchant, and go back to the tavern.

I think i have to write a bit shorter in the future, you know, cant use the whole day on describing each and every event. I will do it now in the beginning, but later i wont have the time for it.

Indeed very good. But yes, you should write shorter about every event and add more screenies.

Anyway, a good AAR is coming out of it.

It seems quite good, the only thing I see annoying would be the paragraphs. If you would split them up with a space, it would make it easier to read.

Chapter 2: The merchant, and the bandits pt. 2

March 25. 1257

Yesterday I stayed all day in the tavern, resting, and doing what fighters do best, fighting! But not in the tavern. There is an arena in Reyvadin, where there are being held tournaments, and melee fights in between them. Seems like I still need a lot of training, I beat only one guy with my staff before another one knocks me unconscious from behind! My head is still bruised from the blow, but luckily, they have good hospitals for the arena fighters. I also sold all the loot from the bandit camp, earning myself a few hundred denars.

But today, I see the merchant again in the tavern. I walk up to him, asking how his time has been meanwhile.
«I just found out something Warriv. They have infiltrated the city completely. A good friend told me this. It's not good. They do whatever they want to the citizen here. We must take down them all and their captain, before they take over the whole city! I have already gotten my rebel group ready. Bring yours and we should be ready in no time. Surprise means success at this moment,» he whispers to me. I agree with his plan, and we walk out of the tavern.

Lots of young people wait in every corner of the streets. They have poorly concealed weapons under their shirts and knifes in their boots. I just really hope that the bandits don't notice... And then all hell breaks loose. In a matter of seconds, every person in the city is fighting eachother. We try to organize the mob, but they wont hear us. So I join the fight. It is not us against the bandits, it is like a gigantic barfight. Everyone against everyone. The city guards are totally confused and starts hitting everybody. I beat down about four bandits before their leader comes and hits a poorly aimed hit with his sword at my shoulder. However, the hit is powerful enough to launch me to the ground, but not cutting my arm clean off. The pain comes rushing, and I crawl away from the brawl, avoiding to get killed.

Finally the streets are silent. The merchant comes to me and takes me to his home. I get 100 denars as a reward for the fighting, and he thanks me a lot for the help. They got the bandit leader, and will have him to confess to King Yaroglek. I walk back to the tavern, with a badly bruised shoulder.

Chapter 3: The beginning of my real journey

March 26. 1257

I wake up early today in the tavern. My shoulder is aching enormously from the battle yesterday, I hope it gets better soon. I eat some breakfast in the tavern, and go out in the streets. Other townspeople have already woken up, and are doing their work, and other deeds.

I go to the marketplace, where I buy a hunting bow and a quiver of arrows. I realise I need it, because people will try to hurt me in this cruel world, and it is surely better to hurt them first. I also buy a helmet with fur. It isn't good to go in a cold place like this without a hat, and I need something to defend my head with. I don't want to die by a stone in the forehead. I have a walk outside the city gates, where I am met by a horrific sight. The merchant and the bandit leader have been hanged! The poor man, he just brought justice unto this world. Well, he sure is in a better place now.

March 27. 1257

I wake up peacefully again in the tavern. Today I have decided to meet King Yaroglek. I get access to the castle, but just barely. I approach Yaroglek and I introduce myself. I ask him if he has any tasks that need to be done, considering that i need money, and recognition from the lords. He says that if I could collect taxes from Reyvadin, I could have one fifth of the collected money. Of course he won't let me do it alone, so he sends two elite guards to watch over my progress.

March 31. 1257

Finally, I am done with the tax collecting! I collected 7102 denars. I hope Yaroglek is pleased over my work. After all I fought some peasant rebels. Luckily, I had the guards to help me. The peasant rebels were knocked down quickly. I have never seen as skilled fighters as the guards! Even the knights at Slezkh castle couldn't probably beat them! I walk up to the castle, and get access again. I deliver the money to the king, and he is very pleased. He asked if I could do him one more favor. I could become a bounty hunter! There was this murderer who had killed one of his best knights, who will have to face justice. I take the task, and set my course towards Uslum.

Warriv's skills after a few missions and battles.

He got some new armor.

The new recruits.
