Noone uses the local chat like, at all,

because your not near the people using local chat obviously.

I should have been a little more clear,
I just see people talking over all chat all the time saying things like "WHERE ARE YOU!!!" or "GREENZ ATTACK REDZ!", or "Reds do you want to ally"?  when this is stuff that would be better communicated in local chat.  You don't want to let everyone know your attack the red faction right?

Yeah I agree, everyone spams.

That's probably because they are too far away to see local chat... DUH! :D

At least there is a local chat feature, which I already like a lot. Also, thanks a lot for the advice everyone. I guess I'll just have to play myself to find out.

I have read through a few of the player anecdotes and for some reason can't help thinking of the novella "Sandkings" by George R. R. Martin ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandkings_%28novelette%29 ) - mainly due to sentences like "The king of Red felt threatened by Blue and attacked them" or the like. Sounds like we are talking about the story's semi-sentient ant tribes. Come to look at it this way, as sort of a virtual human ant farm, I can't wait to become a part of that

PS: Don't worry, randoming is not in my nature.

You're not speaking to King Harlaus, unless your foot's in his food.

People shouldn't use all chat, ever because you have to actually look around to find someone.  There isn't a magic crystal ball thast lets you communicate with people from across the map, and there weren't phones either.  PEople should actually put some effort into trying to find people and communicate with them, because otherwise rp just dies.

Is it broken?

I think he meant fixed as in local chat replacing allchat, and that would be fine by me.

The RCC server was doing local chat only for most of the morning. It worked out well, till a couple randomers playing the god-mode card came on and the people started leaving.

I mean fixed as in you do not need to click the "chatbox" to type.

Some players are too lazy to do that so they just use allchat instead

I was on there while the RCC server was doing local chat only, it seemed to be working out well except for the few ten-year olds that didn't even know what roleplay meant that joined after awhile.
