Hey guys, I have a few questions:

1) I use a Shortened Military Scythe (my favorite weapon). Do I suffer any penalties on horseback using it?

2) How do I lower controversy? The wiki says wait/defeat enemy troops/resolve disputes. How many controversy points a day/week/month will I lose? How many are lost each time I defeat an enemy lord? "Resolve disputes" those are those quests my wife gives me right?

3) How do I get friendly lords to help me siege a castle without me being a marshal? I ask them to follow me and when I prepare ladders/tower they just sit there and don't "join" the siege. I can ask them to siege it for me, but then they will get the credit but not me.

4) What is an easy way to get troops to stack my castles? My strategy is basically throw any troops I can get in them. I mainly attack enemy lords/bandits with lots of prisoners.

Is a mod required to removed the combat information text?  In big battles, I just don't like to see so much of my screen covered up in "X killed by Y".

Most of it can be removed on the options screen, at the bottom there's a bunch of "report" options, unchecking report casualties would get rid of X killed Y.

I had the same problem and I turned them off for a while, but I ended up wanting them back most of the time, so I just made the text size much smaller. If you end up wanting to do that, you can change font size in the M&B installation folder, mount&blade warband/data/font_data. Should be the first or second line, font_size="x". Bigger numbers are smaller sizes. I found 82 to be a good size, and I can live with the clutter now. Default font size is just huge.

1) You only suffer penalties if it is a two handed weapon, otherwise you're fine. (sorry never used it myself)

2)Unsure there can't help you any, although the single player manual may have a good description.

3)If they follow you they should automatically join the siege when you start the attack.

4) You can get a .txt tweak which makes it possible for you to pay 'recruiters' to go out and hire massive amounts of 1 tier troops.

@Stealthycow, companion effects work regardless of whether they participate or not.

"Eliminated factions" that aren't quite eliminated. I "eliminated" the Khergits (said so in the notes menu and they have no territory) but now it seems they've come back. They only have 3 or 4 lords and no land, but they'll occasionally declare war on me and burn all my villages I can't get to in time. What I've been doing is fighting them when we're at war, and not taking them prisoner to get rep up, and doing tasks for them when we're not at war, but now I have like 60 rep with a couple of them and they're still saying "Long live the king!" When will they stop loving their king who has nothing to provide them with? I read in patch notes that this kind of thing was maybe supposed to be fixed, but this has been going on for a while now.

This is in Native 1.152? If so, do you have a savegame you could upload to http://bugs.taleworlds.com/edit_bug.aspx?id=3920 ? (along with a thorough explanation of what happened, of course)

It's actually Floris Basic 2.52 and some tweaks with 1.152, not sure if that'd be an issue? Should I post it there anyways?

No, you shouldn't. Only unmodded, untweaked, uncheated bugs belong on the BugTracker.
Floris hasn't yet been updated to the changes of the 1.15x patches (as it notes it is built on and for 1.143) so there's still room for these errors. If you continue to get them after Floris is updated to 1.15x, then it would be appropriate to report that--in the Floris board.

I am playing single player native vanilla warband. I am new to the game and really like it. Then I tried the floris mod. Too much too soon! But I would love to take the improved graphics from floris (minus the new combat animations) into my native game. And if poss, without losing my savegame in native. How do i go about this? I just want the shiny armour graphics really:)

You should be able to copy your saves from Native to Floris Basic 2.4 (the prior version of Floris) which will upgrade items and scenes a bit--mainly just new items. Post more in the Floris board if you need a hand. The current 2.5 version of Floris is not compatible with Native saves.

Wow, I feel dumb -- I don't remember how long I've had warband, but I never even noticed there was a scroll down on the options menu.  Thanks for this, and the suggestion to lower the font size.

due to it being a two hander you suffer penalties due to horse back using one hand to swing making it slower and weaker. but if your on horse back i hope you know to charge at your enemy (and swing to hit them only other wise you might not hit someone) so you do more damage maybe even 100% more damage or better. can bring it even higher the faster you go. for fastest/most damage grab a coarser with 10 riding but be careful not to charge spear men cuz its squishy.
