--- Quote from: Nikolai Alexandre on May 09, 2010, 09:01:27 PM ---ty so much for this guide, followed the whole thing and have a server setup named nikolai.  In the gaming and applications menu, i set the ports to 7240-7242, those are the only ones needed right?  And by the way, do I have to keep the dedicated server files running in order to keep the server up?  If so, how do i save the server settings into one of them MS-DOS batch files like the samples are in?  Ty again.  oh and btw, its a real server under the internet menu, not Lan yee haw!

1. You don't need the steam port, just the port on the set_port command you only need to open a port for that one.
2. You have to keep the server running for it to work.
3. You can't save the settings done in the ingame admin panel to a file, just write them down and apply them in the "Sample_<Gamemode>.txt" If you do not know which setting in the admin menu means which command; just check the file "Readme.txt" inside the server files.

Glad that you got  it working.

Nikolai Alexandre:
is it detrimental at all to have the 7241-7242?  also, I have changed the sample text, but not entirely.  I'm too lazy to do the whole thing now, so i just reset it everytime i experiment with server settings.  Roleplay_Server is up for the ignorant and wanton abuse of all who dare enter.

MaHuD:
Good job, but does everthing a 22nd say have to include the banner? :|

Plazek:
Yes, yes it does. If it offends you feel free not to use the guide.

Nice job though Vince.

Lackay:
Im having trouble with one part, can you help me?

"If you are forwarding a single port, enter that port number into the Start  and the End boxes. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of that range into the Start box. Then enter the highest number of that range into the End box. Use the Protocol drop down box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding."
