SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

Users who are viewing this thread

Basicly this is a multi option variety items mod for Mount and Blade Warband single player aimed at people new to the game.
I have tried my best to give comprehensive instructions for adding these newly compiled items to the game, sorry if the instructions come accross as patronising, i'm as new at this as you may be.

In the chocolate box folder you will find four folders named after each of the original artist. Open each folder you want and follow the instructions

The items stats have been balanced so as to try not to be game breaking. They are simply to add variety
(NB if you want to remain closer to the 13th Century feel of Warband, you may want to leave out Narfs armour but it's up to you)
Total item count of all four files is 37 and yes they should all work together if you want to.
No need to overwrite any existing items!

They should also currently work alongside thick 1988's excellent variety pack as they do in my game  but i can't garauntee that they will work with other mods.
I haven't worked out how to do screens yet so check spoiler for details.

The Faradon file contains some Nordic style helmets and axes and a hounds helmet.
The Narf file contains some of his excellent plate armour.
The RR_Raptor file contains an asortment of swords and bastard swords and a two hander (They use original Warband scabbards at the moment but i'm looking into it).
The Talak file contains an alternative Long mace, morning star, and some other maces and weapons

Once again all credit goes to the original artists, not myself.

Anyway all the original meshes and textures are from Open Sourced Material by Faradon, Narf, Talak and RR_Raptor65 from the taleworlds forums.
All the credit should go to them for making their excellent work available to the community. If i have inadvertently left someone out of the credits please PM me and i'll add you asap. Thankyou also to those in the community who took the time to encourage my efforts.

Happy modding

The second layer is here!!!!!

Credits this time go to Dejawolf and Maw from the taleworlds forums for meshes and textures.

Some re-colouring and re-texturing done by my good self. (shields look a little too shiny maybe? but i'm still learning).

Total item count 24 All compatible with my other variety mod and thick1988's item variety pack.

This mod is in the same format as my previous items mod, as a small note, the folder titled "Dejawolf helms late" is helms from a slightly later time period than Warband is set, so include in your game or not as you wish. (But they look great with Narf's late period armour from the first download). Also, the textures for these two helms are included in with the first Dejawolf helms textures, so, if you include them you only need the BRF file and the item lines and the module.ini line listed in the instructions.

UPDATED!!! the link for (the second layer) to 1.01
Sorry folks, some of the shield textures where far too bright.
I think i have now fixed the issue and updated the download, if you downloaded the original version of the second layer 1.00 then all you will need to change are your maw shields/texture files from this new update.

and you should post a description/screenshots of the items added so that people can see if they already have them or if they want them

Noticed a small error in my editing Two of Faradons axes One shouldn't be hand and a half. The other has the wrong mesh. please replace the item lines with these

Just off to update the download now.

thanks for doing this, I don't know much about OSPs so anything that is only put out in that format is beyond me
I'll be testing this when I next load up my game

Thanks for the support.
Hope it all works ok, i have been playing today with the items in and since i fixed those couple of errors it seems to be working as intended.
If you spot anything amiss though please leave some input.
Or letting me know it all works ok would be good too lol

Currently in the process of testing some more items!
Watch this space for a second download link to even more goodies It will be released in the same format, but to avoid confusion i won't be including the items allready released.....

In order to try to maintain the games balance i have made a few of the good items or items that should be rare a tiny bit less available.
However i havent made any of them faction specific as the version of item editor i had at the time didn't support that.
After loading up new items it can take a week or so (game time) for items to start appearing in the shops. If  in doubt however, double check that you have installed everything you need to.

Resources, Textures, copy pasted the item kinds lines, updated the item total number at the top of the same page and copy pasted the module ini line.

The amount of times i've wondered why my new test item isn't showing up only to realise i've missed one of the above lol

 I know the problem!

Btw no errors in my files. It was just curiosity.
I didn't know there was a setting also for the time needed for items to appear...
Do you plan to add something else ? I mean also different mods, not only items.

This is currently a very big learning experience for me as i have never publicly released any mod or items for any game, ever....
At the moment i'm just working toward bringing a little more variety to this already great game by reviving some great items from other people that i loved on sight and had to have in my game.

I don't even have wings 3D

I haven't even looked at the sections of the item editor that deal with menu's and until recently i thought a python script was written for  snake extra's in movies (still don't understand it to be honest) lol

Basicly, all the recompiling i have done so far has been with Mtarini's open Brf and Morgh's item editor (knew i forgot a credit somewhere sorry) and trial and error.

I have just gotten hold of the freely available texture editor "gimp" however and it has featured heavilly in the stuff i'm working on for release later this week.

(Very glad to hear everything is working fine for you by the way, very reasuring lol)

Well, the second layer is now out, a few less items this time around but i'm sure a few more will follow and i will get around to adding proper scabbards soonish for the swords in the first layer, in the meantime... All feedback appreciated and once again a big thankyou to Talak, Narf, Faradon, Maw, Dejawolf, RR_Raptor, mtarini and  morgh for thier OSP content.

I'm now off to actually PLAY the game properly for a few days lol

I'll be checking back here every now and again, so, keep the comments coming even if everything works fine it's nice to hear.

Happy Modding

Some nice work here mate, I've been trying to add some more stuff myself but can never get it to work! Can I put in a request for some bows or archer related gear in the next layer?

Hi there just a little confused with the instructions... :???: Its all clear except that when it says

"*Important* RAISE YOUR ITEM COUNT TOTAL (IT'S AT THE TOP OF THE ITEM KINDS1) LIST BY "??" and as your scrolling up, make sure that all the lines have a space at the beginning like they should."

and i want to add all of them in do i just keeps raising as much as it tells me? So say it starts at 1, and instructions tell me to raise it by 7...now i have eight, next instructions say 14... now i have 21 etc...

Or do i raise it once by one of the instructions? So it starts with 1 and I'm told to raise it by 14-now 15. Then do i ignore rest of instructions when told to raise?
