Yes, you'll need to be able to use the Module System (source code) to add the code and then compile a new module. Tutorials aplenty.

Talking of troops, What's the mod where you have your own kingdoms troops (Pre-made, Not editable) ?

They are called stuff like - Your Master crossbowman
Or - Your black knight.

It has diplomacy added to it as well I think.

I dont think it adds any new weapons/armour though.

Custom Commander adds an implementation of custom troops. The Native Mod Compilation is primarily Diplomacy, Custom Commander, and Pre-Battle Orders & Deployment, which might be what you're referring to. Similarly, Floris Gameplay and Expanded mod packs include those same three base mods and a custom troop tree. ...all as Duh just pointed out above.

I think custom troops can make what I want... I just want to use it with renaissance mod

I'm curious if there's a mod that allows for homosexual relations-- female character to romance a lady and a male character to romance a lord?  I mean, your character IS essentially a pivotal character who isn't defined by any destiny save what they make for themselves...

I admit that, partially, this is because I can't bring myself to play a male character (if given the choice, I'll usually play female, for immersion reasons), and yet from what I gather the courtship to marry a lady seems to be much more interesting than marrying a lord (which is  basically "do a few missions for him, then ask him and bam you're married").

A 30-years-war Mod would be great :)

Wedding Dance for the old MB allows it.

Agreed. This one won't get done, but this one is pretty close to that period, looks great and it will be released this summer.

Is there anything for Warband, then?

Not that I know of. Gay marriage would be pretty anachronistic for medieval times, and mod-makers try to be serious about history. (Yes, they are not fun people, mostly.)

Ugh.

I play Warband over WFaS almost specifically BECAUSE (aside from WFaS's lack of variety in armor and melee weapons) Warband is a fantasy setting, not a historical one.

Historical games are always boring unless they let you defy history...

My lack of time and modding ability is, mostly.  I can certainly try, though.

The changes I had in mind (and should I post this in a separate thread?) were to change it so that when starting a conversation with a lady and it checks for gender (assuming conversation works this way), rather than removing all options, it checks for a randomly generated variable for each lady to determine if they are interested in such relations (And the same with male player characters talking to lords), and then offers a conversation tree similar to that of a normal courtship, with some obvious dialogue changes and perhaps a difficulty increase compared to the difficulty of a heteronormative relationship (such as, for a male player character seeking to romance a male lord, requiring a higher level of trust than a female player character would require for the same thing).

I have no clue how to work on conversation trees, though, or how to turn it in to a mod.

Well the first thing would be to get the module system from www.taleworlds.com . After that you would want to check out the module system documentation in the forge, specifically the getting started part. Caba'drin has also made a nice little introduction to the syntax found here. After you have set up everything and are able to actually compile the module system, you have overcome the first hurdle.

As you may have guessed - dialogs are handled within module_dialogs.py - so that is where the magic will happen for you. But before you actually change anything in there, its highly recommended to just read through the file to get to know the code, check out some tutorials to see various ways to change things and of course have a look at header_operations.py , which lists all the commands at your disposal. I would also suggest to pick up notepad++ as its free and offers a decent interface to work with code.

Once you run into problems (and you will :P), you will find this place to be very helpful: Question&Answer

Nope, It may have been one of those pike and blade/diplomacy mods.

I can remember being able to go into a tavern and buy these custom troops in groups of up to 300 men, If someone knows of this mod, Please tell me.

Could have been this - http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2610

i got an idea.

a mod that is not historically accurate but is fun in this way:

4 main factions

1: le empire (europe now) : french fashioned country basically, troops that  are like line infntry in napoleonic wars. they use the bayonets on their rifles and dont have melee weapons except the top tiers who have swords.they also have some horsemen but not with rifles. only swords/lances.

2: africans ( i dont know faction name maybe zulu or such a name) they have spearmen with very high HP and good spears and some spear throwing units aswell.african cavalry ride rhino's , tigers, boars, and alot of african animals.

3: arabia: they have good horse archers, very basic fire-arm units, medium melee warriors. and good melee horsemen.

4: china: no cavalry but very good marksmen including : hand cannoniers, grenadiers, and line infantry. melee infantry includes shaolen warrior monks with scythes and such.
