It would be very calming if there was an in-game edict effect calculator sort of thing.  It auto-calculated the overall edict weekly edict effects, very similar to what we've done in this thread but at least if it was ingame it would be correct and you would know if an edict wasn't working properly.

So you can go to a page from the edicts page and there's "overall positive effects" and "overall negative effects"

Well, it already is kinda like that on the fief management page, but there's some parts left out.  Parts like: +-% of lords/holy units in armies, scutage amount, etc.  It would definitely be nice to see more detail, however, with warband coming out in 2 days this next patch is likely to be the last until v5 (which will be for warband :D)

It's the shizzle!

why dont you leave away the nobles domain and make it inheritance instead? then u have +1 rel with clergy and some faith bonus. No negative relation with villages. Clergy is important in the end, right ;-)?

Hello forums,
This is set of edicts I will be using in my current game (I play v4.5 I did not notice patch untill I got to 50th day in my game), I did not test it yet. As you can clearly see It is focused on getting holy wariors mostly. As for the economic part... I'll try to make ends meet ;)

1st page:
Village Fairs

2nd page:
Mercantilism
High Taxes

3rd page:
Royal Supremacy
Theocracy
Immunity
Inquisition

4th page:
Military Founds (any difference between royal ransom?)
Economic Regulations
Senate

Enact cost: 10 000$ -15 town relations -20 clergy relations -50 renown

Positive effects:

monastery income +10% (town? village?)
village prosperity +1 (+additional 1 from mill)
village relations +1
town prosperity (+1 from guild)

nobles in army +45%
holy wariors +35%

clergy relations +1

Faith
global +40
town +1
village +1

Negative effects:

village income -10% (maybe neglected with that monastery income?)
town relations -3 (what the hell I'll fight in tournaments and do some quests)
renown -5/week (don't make me laugh)
scoutage -5 (duh)

pros:
only 1 word: holly wariors, actually its only 2 words: holly wariors and nobles, and spanish inquisition (when you don't expect it).

cons:
no lord army size boost,
no income boost,
no serious prosperity boost,
low town relations (I don't know why should I care but still it can't be good),
no nobles relations boost (same here)

Here's my 2 cents on the King's Edicts or as I fondly call them "The Monkey's Paw Laws".

First to anyone who is using the Edicts think carefully before you enact a law because it can ruin a long campaign by turning your population against you.  I ruined my relations in the cities with "Inquisition" and found that prices were terrible when selling loot.

I do have some questions.

If I up the scutage points does that money actually subtract from the money my  lords make and use for village upgrades and troops?  So then it may make me more money but it hurts me when I need my vassals to campaign with me?

And let's talk about Holy Warriors and Nobles in Army.  My guess that Holy Warriors increases the likelihood that you will get a -200 denar Holy Warrior event?
And the Nobles in the Army increases the number of nobles who migrate to your new kingdom?

Since I get most of my Holy Warriors from levelling them up in battle it seems a waste of an edict to try to increase their appearance through a random events.

And since nobles are the troop type that upgrades (eventually) into Holy Warriors it would be counter productive to reduce that percentage when you want to maximize Holy Warriors.  In effect you could increase HW all day long but if you decrease Nobles you defeat the purpose.

As an aside: I've learned the har way that playing with the "cant's quit without saving" option is not a good idea on a new mod version.  That said always save beforeyou enact a law.   I messed up a bunch of stuff with that double law glitch.

Here is another combo (towards money boost and nobles relations):

1 page:
Enfranchisement
High capitation

2 page: none
3 page: none

4 page:
Noble domain
Economic regulation
Senate

Enactment cost: -3000$,  -20 nobles relations, -5 villagers relations, -20 renown

Positive effects:
+1 Weekly village prosperity modifier (net effect)
+40% Weekly village income (net effect)
+30% Village growth
+20 Party size
+10% Weekly Mill income modifier (per Mill built)
+4 (or +6) Weekly relations with nobles (net effect - see note below)
+35% (or +15% )Weekly royal tribute (net effect - see note below)

Negative effects:
(-30) Weekly renown (can be offset by buildings)
(-1) Weekly prosperity with towns (can be offset by buildings)
(0) Weekly relations with villages (because offset by Enfranchisement)
+1 Watchtower demesne penalty (per Watchtower built)

I advise enacting all 3 Noble laws first to collect positive nobles relations above +20 and then enacting villagers laws.

Nobles relations can be further boosted by adding either of Noble Ransom/Military Reinbursement by +2, and Royal tribute still in the black (+15% net)

BTW: scutage also called shield money, French écuage,  (scutage from Latin scutum, “shield”), in feudal law, payment made by a knight to commute the military service that he owed his lord. A lord might accept from his vassal a sum of money (or something else of value, often a horse) in lieu of service on some expedition. The system was advantageous to both sides and grew rapidly with the expansion of money economy in Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries. (quote from Britannica dot com)
