Quick Foraging question. Please help.

Hey, whats foraging exactly do? Ive searched forums and read the stat over and over...wth does it mean?

Im thinking it costs less food for my army somehow? please explain. Thanks!

For every point of foraging skill, your army will collect 5 units of food instead of getting them borrowed from your inventory

From my understanding, they dont "borrow" it they consume it...so i still dont really understand im sorry. What does collecting it mean? where is it stored then? and whats borrowing?

I mean, if every man consume 70 units of food diary, with 3 points in foraging skill your army "get 15 units of food from the field" and you use only 55 (70 - 5 x 3 foraging skill points) units of food from your inventory to feed your army

Should be noted that it doesn't always work.  But it's a good early skill to cut down on troubles when it's just you and a companion or two.
