Produno can you do something about armor/damage values? I don't like dying in two hits with some of the best plate armor in the game. I really feel this needs to be fixed. This is my only gripe with the mod. I can't stress it enough.
I'd like to second this. Having played the previous versions relatively extensively, it feels like combat has gone from "rather difficult, but rewarding" to "Thief two-shots you and your men in good armor". I find myself just avoiding combat altogether because it feels like you're always going to get knocked out and take more losses than you can afford, regardless of who you fight. I exaggerate, of course. But that's what jumps to my mind.

    Otherwise, love the new version.

    Firearms or Cannon?

    john1995122 said:
So I'm deciding which range weapon to use for myself and my companion. Which of them are better in terms of field battle and siege? And how you guys equip your companion?
I find that firearms are better for general use, and most cannon-type weapons are devastating in sieges. (Though I'm still not entirely clear on how Rockets work.)
I usually arm companions with a light arquebus to start with if they aren't already suited for another weapon type like Deshavi or Klethi. They're more likely to kill an enemy when the first time they hit them and get them the experience they need. I upgrade the weapon later if I can, of course, but light arquebus' are readily available as loot from bandits in the "Pack of Villains" groups you see earlier on. As for armor, I usually farm the Taiga Hordes for their Ruski gear, then just buy them better stuff when money isn't an issue.

Blunderbuss', grenade launchers, dragons (the pistol type) and the like are pretty much my go-to siege weapon even when I'm playing as the mercenary archer. Being able to regularly take out half a dozen enemies (possibly many more) with each shot is pretty incredible. When you don't get blasted by an Aleph the moment you start, anyway.

    lordindisar said:
Update: Using Control +F , and searching aleph in a few of the games files, i can find and delete anything pertaining to alephs in the word docs

would doing this just break the game or do exactly what i want?
That would definitely break the game. Removing any troop will result in every single troop after it in the files being out of order, and break any scripts attached to it. There's a lot more to it than that, but I'm not a modder myself and don't know exactly how to explain it in detail.

    Traits feature overhaul

So... What exactly are the triggers for the "Ugly" and "Fat" traits? I've been having my character wear "expensive" clothing (Fancy armor with good modifiers) and getting a lot of variety in my food supplies, yet I'm consistently getting the unsightly and fat traits within a month in-game.

So you can always take all your troops to a new castle/town and declare war on Elintor, because your town will be empty they will see it as take able and take it with very few troops in it then all you have to do is win a almost impossible victory vs 5-6 Elintor riders with a scythe.. I did it once, idk how but it happened, they surround you too easily, if you outrun them it's possible but then you have the archers, seriously the worse faction to try to sneak into. Well I haven't tried sneaking into Macavian towns but I do know of the horrors of the prison breaks alone. (I suppose you could sneak in with a few troops, I guess I don't learn that taking 100 troops with you will get you spotted).

Perhaps you want Sidherton? (The other mission gives you 7000 denar.. is it worth pissing off a faction to -100 for 7000 denar?), his gives you Darkforest Bow + Fornirion + 50 Geldairn nobles. One test game I started with 2 Darkforest bows in Forniron, a start as the viking with the extra companion.... That was when I was seeing why my companions wouldn't follow me and had saved after cheating renown so that save was garbage, could never find another Darkforest bow in a merchant at the start. (Pbodless was the answer to why)
Maccavian towns aren't particularly terrible. Think it's just guys with swords and shields, with a throwing weapon they never bother to use. By the way, when you're sneaking in you can switch weapons to a dagger and lyre (makeshift shield) as well as the scythe. I actually find it easier to deal more damage over less time with the dagger, though once the lyre breaks you need to find a new shield or a weapon that can block.

As for Ulthidr, I haven't done the quest you're talking about, but if it's just a battle quest that lowers your relation to -100 with the Geldar for a measly 7000 aurums... Eh. It could be worth it if you don't spend much time in the elintoran peninsula, or if you're just about to join a faction and reset your relations with all the nations, but if you plan on going between Forniron and Qalateqa a lot, I'd say you should put it off. I'll check the quest out myself when I can.

A few questions on this great mod:

Is there any plan for the Aroulo in the future?  Right now they kind of just exist, not doing anything.

Does the Realm of the Falcon ever declare war?  I'm past day 500 now and the Zann managed to still hold half the map, but they seem content to sit back and watch the world burn while the Zann end up with 20 lords and curb stomp anyone who declares war on them to limit their power.  It seems like a good war for them to get involved in haha.  Continued on this question: how do I defeat the Zann now that they've expanded so much and have the lords to hold their territory?  They have over 80 centers and I've basically prevented Tolrania from becoming extinct in hopes of someone helping to stop the Zann while I play around trying to make Geldar legitimate... (I had the normal invasion date of 167 or whatever set).

Along with the first question: will the western areas of the map ever be filled in?

Last question:  I took one castle as a vassal of Geldar and over the next few weeks we ended up with 8 lords (including me) total.  Is that supposed to happen? Is there code blocking people from joining factions that only have one castle?

Not sure about the Aruolo. I imagine they'll become much more fleshed out and interesting in the far future.

As for the Falcons, they're a very peaceful defensive nation; they have no ambitions towards any of the other faction's cities, and none of the other factions have any towards theirs. They only really declare war to curb the power of nations that look to be on the way to becoming a superpower, which it sounds like they might have reason to do in your game. It sounds like you may just be getting unlucky. Check with the guild master in Fountain Hall to see how the Field Marshall feels about the Zann.

And finally, no. The only thing that really changed was that your faction became slightly more appealing to disgruntled nobles, and I suppose the newly available fiefs tipped the balance and pushed those lords to joining you. Factions like Aruolo, Cretas, and Kuu-Laan can definitely get more lords to join them, it's just that the major players have much more to offer them, and so they generally go to those. Lucky roll of the dice for the Geldadr, I suspect.

    I didn't notice that part.

I usually give horses with modifiers to companions.
They're not worth all this worrying.
Same. I've learned throughout Warband, (especially Perisno) that any horses you ride will never keep their modifiers for long. I managed to get a Spirited Wyvern from a Reich town, and whenever it'd get crippled I'd retreat and reload. After a few weeks and maybe thirty cripplings, I just gave it to a companion and rode a normal one.

Hey, so when I'm outfitting my mercenary guildsmen people with horses (im on recruits) only half of them or so spawn in with said horses.
Are you giving the horses to actual recruits, as in raw unupgraded troops straight from the guild? Or to hired troops you've upgraded to horsemen? Because if you're just giving the horses to recruits, they haven't been set to always spawn with a horse. Every unit has a handful of yes/no variables that can guarantee they'll spawn with a certain type of item. For example, virtually every troop in the game other than the most pathetic of looters are guaranteed to spawn with armor and boots. Higher level troops with helmets and gauntlets are guaranteed to spawn with those, and cavalry troops are guaranteed to spawn with horses. If a troop has a type of item in their inventory but isn't guaranteed to spawn with one, then it'll be random. Vaegir Recruits from native and Rekrut des Drachen from Perisno are a good example of how this works. Both of those troop types have horses in their item list, but aren't guranteed to spawn with them, meaning you'll occasionally get a Rekrut with a horse and such.

Basically, if you just level those guys up to horsemen, they'll all spawn with mounts every time. Non-cavalry types will only have them randomly.

What's the best way to get my reputation up with minor factions?
    1) Find a quest that does it, like for example the quest that starts in Voldeberg's tavern.
    2) Watch for battles involving them, join and help them.  The worse their odds, the better.

By the way, be careful, because there is a sour spot where they will friendly to you but hostile to people whom you want safe, like a caravan that you are escorting.  So you may want to only befriend half-honest factions like the Eagle Knights, as opposed to outright bastards like the Demon worshipers.
Yup. Eagle Knights and Illica Falki make for great friends; they'll attack bandits and such, and (depending on the faction) might attack other kingdoms. I think Illica will only attack Reich, but Eagle Knights... Not sure.

I control pretty much all of Tolrania in my biggest game, and the Eagles keep my lands remarkably safe.

How can i improove relations with whole families at once and which ways are considered best to gain relqtions in general?
    Rescue captured lords.
The best way to raise relations with their friends & family.
This. You'll get a little boost with all of their family members, including ladies. Running around rescuing lords whenever you see anyone in prison is a great way to make friends, and is also great for giving your honor a big boost. You'll see your relation with Upstanding and Good-Natured lords go up pretty quickly. You could seek out quests from their family members to get a cash and experience reward for it, but going out of your way to do this for everyone is a lot of extra effort for only a modest reward, and I think that the quest has a cooldown period. I.E. after you complete the quest, nobody will offer the quest to you for a certain amount of time, even if they've got family members in prison. So best to just take the opportunities when they come up.

Also, I didn't recognize your posts with the new picture, Leonion. So used to seeing an angry bird that I was wondering who in the hell this guy who's apparently on the dev team was  It's a cool picture.

Demon Armor, Demon lord Armor, Silver Runed Perisno Noble Armor, Demon Plated Charger: Not available to players, as far as I can tell. Or at least not intended to be.
Netherworld Armor, on the other hand, looks to be lootable. However, I can't figure out who in the hell actually wears it in the first place, so...

Dreaded Wolf: Only available from one specific source. (If you look a few pages back in this thread you can actually find the posts where I discovered what that source is.)

Golden Sunblade: No idea. You can buy a Perisno Sun Sword in shops if you have your own kingdom with the culture set specifically to "Perisno", but I'm not sure about Golden Sunblades. They do have the "merchandise" tag, though, so they're likely available in some culture's shop. I'd check Elintor, since that sounds kind of like their style, but you'll probably have to experiment yourself.
Ancient Perisno Kingblade: Equally clueless. It's a unique item though, so I imagine it's available from a quest.
Runed Perisno Kingsman Staff: Again, not sure. Also a unique item. The fact that it's a "kingsman" staff suggests that it may have something to do with Tolrania.

I'd keep an eye on this thread here:
    https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,361026.0.html
, somebody may figure it out and put it there eventually.

Im looking for good ways to level up in perisno, im only level 22 anyone has some tricks, tips, and such to share?
Well, at level 22 I'd reccomend you continue doing quests. The lump experience bigger quests give you will be good enough to get you up to 30-40 or so before you start needing incredible amounts of experience to level up.

Once you get around the level 40 mark, uh... Kill and train, mostly. Top tier troops are often at levels as high as 60 or more, and give a lot of experience, so once you're at the point where you can take them on, hunt them down yourself. I find that Demon Worshippers are good targets if you just want to attack minor factions; they have plenty of high level heavy cavalry for you to kill. Large Bounty quests you get from tavern keepers are also okay until late-game.  And get crazy-strong companions like Aracanus and Tamaris to training 10 and they'll give you a small but noticeable exp trickle for pretty much the rest of ever. Arc and Tam are at levels 60 and 57 upon recruitment, respectively, so it's unlikely you'll ever out-level them.

Note that I'm not an expert on level grinding (I mostly just play the game without a ton of thought to leveling) and there could be much better strategies out there. For all I know I just recommended you the worst ways possible to level grind, but I feel pretty confident in saying that the methods I mentioned are pretty good.

Undead destroying everyone - is this a running from battle simulator

    Nalcarum said:
And then I decided to fight 23 Flesh Golems. I spent an hour circling around those things (because AI tells them to attack closest enemy, AKA me, not my troops), as my army blasted away. I made sure me and my "buddies" were in the shooting range, and I also told my horse archers / gunmen to dismount and hold the line, so there should not have been any penalties at all.
I've done some testing, and from what I can tell, Flesh Golems can only be damaged by the player and their companions; regular troops do jack ****.
However, all the other undead troops are killable by regulars; they're just incredibly powerful and well-equipped. And for anyone new to the mod that is put off by this, it's important to note that this is by design. The Armies of Light and Darkness are supposed to have hilariously powerful troops. My advice would be to get a lot of gunpowder troops. Blackguards can devastate enemies with the Blunderbusses, and at a range that is only somewhat shorter than, for example, a Merc. Matchlock Man (which I also reccomend getting). Granted, I'd give this advice to you for fighting just about any of the factions, but it works against the undead when they don't outnumber you.

Also, no, Ammunition supplies are not used when all of your troops run out of ammunition. I'm pretty sure they are on a timer. I don't recall exactly how long the timer is, but I think it's between 2-5 minutes. But since your troops weren't actually dealing any damage in the first place... Yeah.

And yes, I realize it's been about 6 months since this topic has had a post, but as it's only the ninth most recent thread on the board, I figured it'd be better to put this here rather than start a new thread.

Keep up the good work, Leonion. If you ask me, my educated guess would be that the reason you hear so much mindless *****ing and moaning is because most people who are relatively content with the state the mod is in just don't have as much to say. And I'm not just being an ass-kissing sycophant to boost your ego ; that's just my observations as to how people work in general.

And all of this for one purpose: to make the Zann Emperor spawn more of his household troops, then wait for others to beat him, then find, release and recruit the prisoners and put them into my capital town.

The Zann declared war on the Hakkon empire, and they and the Drahara wiped them out. Then the Falcons took Amarna, and the Drahara declared war on them. The Falcons spent a pretty significant amount of time losing lots of field battles on both fronts, but not losing any actual territory, so I declared war on Zann and Drahara and went running around rescuing as many Falcons as I could. Now I have around 500 Light Renweards, 200 Renweards, 300 Sceotend Fealcans, 150 Frod Sceotends, 100 Scytre Fealcans, 300 Ridere Fealcans, 150 Frod Ridere Fealcans, 200 Frod Bearwessman, 100 Gehorsod Helends, and 70 Renweard Marshals.

It takes so long for tier 1 recruits to get upgraded to last tier troops. So grindy. Why not add a direct upgrade path?
I want merchants to sell best weapons and armors in the game in all the towns at the cost of 10 denars. Why should I grind money and spend time to find them? Unplayable.
I just started the game and the armor merchant in the first town just happens to sell lordly plate armor for 1 000 000 aurums. I must have it! I will spend hours fighting on the arena and cursing the developers. How could they?!
And why does darkforest bow require 10 PD? It will take so long till I get there... the requirement should definitely be lowered.
Oh, is it Zeladeck there? I don't have any troops, but I have a horse, a bow and 50 quivers. I absolutely must defeat him right now! ... Phew, it took 5 hours. Developers, are you out of your mind? Making such long battles...

I'll admit, there's been a lot of times in warband where I've started a new game and immediately saw some sort of lordly gear that I knew I'd want to use in the late game. I generally just frown and fake-sulk for a minute or two, and forget about it afterwards, but if I really, really want/need it, I just export my character, open the text file, and give myself a little extra cash. Then I usually keep the thing in the bottom of my inventory until I'm at the point where I could probably buy/use it.

And personally, I'm totally cool with the 15 relation requirement. It's pretty easy once you realize that guild master quests give more town relation in Perisno than in native, and they'll probably take 2-3 minutes each if they don't involve battles. And even if they do involve battles, unless they're asking you to track down a lord or Nox of Zephili or something they shouldn't take long. Not to mention that Perisno starts you out with pretty damn strong characters and companions.

I do not mind the looter quest at all.

When it comes up in the rotation, as in, when a guild master offers it, I simply refuse, and take a look outside.  If there is an army nearby, I wait until it bugger off, and take the quest when I know that no one will poach my targets.  If my army is too big and slow, I may wait until I garrison it.  But I spend 90% of my time with just my companions, so I seldom have to do that.

The nice thing about the looter/robber quest is that even if you lose some of the original targets, any looter/robber party will do for the count.

That's true of course, you either have to hope the target gets killed off before the timer (which is quite generous, 60 days I think), as running out the clock does give the penalty...so you might have to go hunt it down in the closing days.  I think the most I've seen a target survive is a bit past the 45-day mark.

Actually the looter quest is different than the X army quests; if you are not the one who engages them, it doesn't count towards the completion. For example if there is an army near the town when you get the quest and destroys one or more parties before you reach them, you need to look elsewhere for looters, which is a pain of course. I always pass that one.
Same here, especially in Perisno. The quest is already a pain in the ass in most modules, but in Perisno there's so many parties wandering around that'll eat those Robber parties up that taking the quest almost guarantees either failure, cheating, or weeks of searching.
...Not that it's a huge problem or that it takes anything away from the game. (No sarcasm, for real) If it comes up, I can just say no
It's just that every once in a while I'll take the quest without thinking, save, and realize what I've done.

    Your most badass moments.

Day 156, was a vassal of the Reich, married to Princess Birgit. Had managed to seize Arendal from Maccavia about 20 days before with only my party of 250+ elite archers and heavy cavalry,  and was granted it by Kaiser Otto. (I'd imported an old character that I'd started in Perisno 0.6 or so, imported to Prophesy of Pendor, and back to Perisno 0.7, and finally to 0.8, so my character was borderline bull**** levels of skilled, which is why I was able to field so many men so early on) I'd garrisoned the city with about 200 elite troops, and had gathered about 100 recruits. I was out wandering near Maccan when the Zann invasion hit. Now, I'd completely forgotten about the Zann invasion, so I was already caught off guard. However, having been thoroughly underwhelmed by the 0.7 Zann invasion, I was also completely blown away by the sheer scale of the Zann invasion. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure when I got within sight of Arendal there were between 4000 and 6000 Zann troops in the middle of attacking. I weighed my options; I could either abandon the city and leave my elite garrison to die, or I could go in there with my army and we could almost certainly be defeated and captured. After about a minute of thinking, I decided to fight with my men.

The battle was intense, not least because I put together a playlist of songs by "Two steps into Hell" (who wrote this piece
, interestingly enough) and had that blasting, and I'd turned the battle size up to about 350 men. Luckily, I'd built a blacksmith's forge back when I hadn't forgotten that there was a massive horde of insane, bloodthirsty asians Zann heading across the sea towards Perisno, so we had arrows and bolts galore ready for them. After about an hour and a half, with only a break or two in between when I screwed up and got myself KO'd, there were about 300 of my men left, and 5000(?) Zann corpses laying at the base of the walls.

Afterwards, I realized that the exact sames thing was happening in cities all across the coast, including my wife's city of Freising. After mopping up the remnants of the troops that attacked Arendal, (and getting most of my men wounded in the process), I marched my army to her aid, hoping enough of my men would have healed their injuries by the time we got there. the battles at Freising and Reichsburg weren't quite as insane as the ones at Arendal (about 3000 men at Freising and 4000 at Reichsburg) but they were still nuts. Then I realized that many of the Zann that were dropped around Freising had been running around chasing Reich lords and patrols before I'd gotten there, and an even larger force of around 4000 was besieging Freising once more. Most of the remaining garrison was still wounded, as had most of my party (I think I had maybe 50 men fit for battle out of 300 or so, with maybe 200 of the garrison) as to make sure they wouldn't just flood us with numbers, I went to the ransom broker in the taven and seriously hired about 500 slaves and added them to the garrison (or maybe I did that after the first battle. Not sure.) That last battle was pretty difficult, not least because we were pretty strapped for good soldiers, and I gained a new appreciation for the Kaiserliche Drachen Scharfschutze's powerful bows as they filled the Zann with arrows from a perfect shooting point to the side of the ladder. (They were pretty much the only elite troop the garrison had left in noticable numbers) I honestly hadn't given much thought to the Reich's archers, and assumed they were just plain old archers. What I didn't realize is that the while the Kaiserliche's archery proficiency isn't anywhere near the levels of Elves or the Falcons, their Redfire Oak Warbows are probably the hardest hitting bows any troops use.

The experience was awesome. So awesome I think I actually blabbered about it all over the Perisno Q&A thread about it the moment I was done.
