Hey Docm30, are you planning on including the Deployment phase from PBOD? I feel like that would be really useful for this sort of warfare.

Those Prussians are fantastic! I've always wondered, though; what are those big, puffy things that they and the Russians wear over their shoulders?

How accurate is this assessment on medieval armor?

This is very interesting. Thanks for posting it!

Actually, this proves absolutely nothing. Matmohair, you've posted some very interesting stuff that has caused me to re-examine this issue, but Xenoargh is right in that you use these pictures to back up some conclusions that are, at best, far removed from the context of what you're showing and, at worst, entirely wishful thinking. History is not what we want to believe about the past; it is what we can prove explicitly about the past given what evidence we have. While visual evidence is adequate in the absence of archeological finds, it is useful only in the context of the culture/period/situation which created it. The rest is just conjecture. Interesting conjecture, true--but not the slightest bit provable, and certainly not worth this increasingly tiresome mud-match.

No problem! Couldn't wait to get these in-game myself, so I figured I might as well be some help. Hope they work.

@Somebody: I don't think there's anything else you can do, although some skirt-ish pieces like hauberks (that are long and don't model legs) work with the hose. Makes me wish that all Warband pieces were like that, though. I hate the seams on the legs between the boot and the armor.

    Name: Michael "Mike" Hawk
    Nationality: English
Appearance: Ragged young man, hasn't shaved or taken a bath in weeks. Torn clothes, old worn out shoes. Allways has hidden knives with him.
Description: Born to the noble Hawk family 1789 (their sigil is, ironically, a swan), their home was burned and their land seized by a greedy baron who had his parents falsely executed for treachery to the crown. He was sent to an orphanage at an early age of 7 and his to sisters, 5 and 9, were sent to unknown monasteries. He escaped at the age of 13, seeking freedom and money. What he found was the slums of London. Prostitution, alcohol and brutal beating became his new lifestyle. He soon became a master of knives. Throwing, knife fighting, concealed stabbing, he could do it all with ease. He fled England after he killed 3 men in a bar fight for making fun of his name. Now he roams Europe, seeking fortune in war.

That sounds more like a Medieval Character. What good would knives do against a volley of muskets?
Monasteries? In England? What insidious Popery is this?

Paradox's Project: War of the Roses - War of the Vikings

Actually, feudal obligation had almost entirely disappeared by this point, and had been replaced by paid service by liveried retainers. Very few pitchfork-wielding peasants would have been seen during the Wars of the Roses.

The Original L'Aigle Thread, for the sake of history. Be ye warned.

Name: Marcel Vincent, Marquis de Beaune
    Nationality: French
Appearance: Uniform of a Russian Hussar (or other cavalryman. Something showy and dramatic). Fair-skinned with dark hair and a moustache. Has a very large, beak-like nose, and is highly conscious of it.
Description: A self-styled nobleman who fled France during the Revolution, Marcel claims to have lived in Great Britain, the United States, and Russia before finding service with the Tsar's army as a captain of Hussars. Whether or not these claims are true is unknown, just as it is impossible to prove his constant assertions that French agents are after his head on orders from the Emperor himself (although the reasons for this pursuit change a little each time he tells them, and range from smuggling to espionage to a love affair with the wife of one of Napoleon's relatives). Marcel is never one to belittle his own achievements, and likes to tell a good story; preferably one with lots of romance, dueling, and valiant deeds preformed by none other than himself.
What is apparent is that, even if the French are truly after him, their efforts to hunt him down are consistently put to shame by those of Marcel's creditors. Forced to flee Russia to escape them, he now wanders the great cities of Europe and would look kindly on any commander who could offer him some decent pay and a means of changing his financial woes--provided he's looked after in accordance with his station. Whatever his origins, he's a dashing swordsman (albeit quite mad).

Don't hold your breath. I think they'll release a Mount and Blade 2 before AoCII is released.

One year later with almost the exact same pattern of "we're close to completion" statements. Looks like this is likely true. I don't even think there is a mod in the works because it seems like every time we get near the "release" date Zimke has "exams."

Oh for goodness sake. You treat this as though it were a professional enterprise with paid staff working full time hours in a world where nothing unexpected pops up. Contingency happens. Deal with it.
Over the last year, this mod has been extremely consistent in displaying its progress, as much so as almost any other mod that I can think about.

Sorry, I had a run in with them. My highschool hosted a play about a gay kid who got beaten to death because of his sexuality and they decided to show up and (and I quote) "Teach Highschool Fags about Hell that Awaits them", all because of a play. they were lucky that the cops got them away from the school before the student body managed to get out of the doors, I'm not kidding.

it makes me very ashamed to be an american and to have once shared a faith with them.

(not exactly history, but I find plenty of people around the world think americans are like them)
