Good suggestions, I would like to include more Italians as well as some figures from other areas such as Scandiniavia, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Denmark etc. Trying to stick to Catholic regions at the moment. In the future if the project is relatively successful/popular I'll be moving onto other regions like Russia, Middle East, etc.
Only thing about these suggestions is that Castruccio and John's references are actually made about 40-50 years after their deaths. I know Hawkwoods memorial is from 1436 when he died in 1394. Maybe Mohatmair has some images in his vast archive, but I may have to make an educated guess at what they may have been equipped with.
I know, that are only Miniatures, but the only good pictures I can find till now.
A Condottiere from the early 14th Century could have looked like this one:
Very similar to your Avatar.
And other suggestions:
Miniatures again...
And a scene from a movie. I've only watched some scenes. As good as the armours look, as horrible are some other details (e.g. knights are lifted at their horses with cranes )
This drawing is from Graham Turner. I have to say I like his style.
Grahama Turner's drawing again.
Graham Turner has drawn some impressive pictures (mainly for some Osprey books). I suggest you take a look at his homepage gallery for some good pictures of late medieval armours: http://www.studio88.co.uk/acatalog/Historical.html
That was one of the better helms in game. Why can that one and the version that had the black cloth over the top be brought back . Most of all, the 3 really nice winged helms back.
Because these helmets are anachronistic in the Year 1257. And as far as I know the creators of this mod are trying to make it as historical accurate as possible.
The whole mail-and-tabard thing? If you walked onto a battlefield wearing all that in the late 14th century, it'd be like some guy going to fight in Afghanistan with a Martini-Henry and a pith helmet.
Who said the Teutonic Knights were wearing that kind of armor in the late 14th Century?
@Silentzo
I think the Teutonic Knight's armor of the late 14th Century wasn't different from the other Western and Middle European knight's armor. A lot of pictures in the internet are showing a "stereotype" of the Teutonic Knights (sometimes they're really "fantasyish", especially the ones from MTW2:Kingdoms) a lot of people have in mind when they think of them. But that wasn't the reality.
The thing I don't like are the vanilla tournaments. I mean: Archers and Javeliners?
OK, I know this isn't a historical mod, but is there any chance the tournaments could be changed? 1257 AD is a good example, everyone starts with his own equipment (but I don't know how they made it), I like that (but HUTh is right, this mod is far too big in my opinion), because Tournaments were for knights.
I feel like the plate armors are incredibly out of proportion to the body of the M&B characters. The helmet also looks absurdly large compared to the body armor.
You've never seen Narf of Picklestink's Transitional Armor Pack, did you? The meshes of that OSP are his and he did a wonderful job. Btw, plate armor wasn't worn directly on the skin. As far as I know, some sort of gambeson was worn beneath the chainmail and the plates in the 14th Century.
And Thick1988's helmets are great in my opinion.
Sorry, don't want to offend you but please think of it.
I know how plate armor was worn, and that's why I am saying it just looks incredibly unrealistic. The textures are fine, it just need to be bigger model. It looks terrible to me, I just don't like it.

There's a slight miss-ballance in the game with the hand gunners, THEY ARE TOO FKING OVER POWERD AND TOO DAMN MANY , like more than one time while atempting to assault a castle there wer like 55<|>80 gunners that One Shot you ain full plaate , 100 men at arms vs 50 gunners odds wern't looking good for the men at arms, maybe tweek the fire gun to do SLIGHTlY lower damage like 3 to 6 points less and not so abundent , maybe use less powerfull on some factions and on one or two some elite ones that cost a lot to train they should be like only for the elite, last rank of raged troops and should cost a lot to train/ advance them up to the status of hand gunner.
PS Thick. check u're mail box when u can.
Could be that they're too many, but gunpowder weapons were very powerful and dangerous against armor. And for the user, too. As far as I know they weren't very precise.
Oh, it looks very nice. But what's with the rigging of the fauld? This could be a problem, right?
What about one version with and one without fauld? I really like this breastplate.
Whatever, I'm looking forward to it.
