In my awe and excitement for the mod, and the deep fascination that I believe we all have towards the Phalanx, I was watching your videos on youtube with them in formations and what not. At first I was very impressed by everything, as anyone would. But then it occurred to me; the phalangites were using their Serissa as if they were normal one handed spears. It made them look like little Macedonian power houses, being able to wield the spear with one hand and thrust with ease.

My suggestion may be too late now, but its never late to suggest I always say, perhaps add a two handed animation for the Serissa instead of the normal spear animation we have now.

Secondly, I was wondering about the animations for the overhand spear usage for hoplites. It would be amazing if you could add two animations; basically, the stab/thrust of the spear (that would be a stab with a short sword) would be a normal overhead thrust: Position 1

While the 'high attack' that would be literally just that with a sword/hammer would be an inverted position: Position 2



PS: If Doris where double sided, and could be used from either side, it would be much simpler in terms of the grip on the Dori. In other words the hoplite would potentially use the golden end (in the picture) to attack in position 2.

Regarding the Phalangati animations, I dug up an old video from a mod I had been observing for MTWII, EBII. (please go to 1:25 to see what I mean regarding overhead thrust and continue watching for Phalangatai animations)

How do you know the animations aren't already there? Are you in the beta?

I realy like the 2. I think it gives more control and uses less space...

The animations are fine as they are for now. Suggestion noted.

A pike unit isnt some whore that every ancient peoples had the fortune of sleeping with.

No... I saw the video on Ealabor's channel on Youtube as I explained and he hasn't said anything about them getting changed.

@ Calous: any chance we can get some screens or a vid showing the current animations for both Hypaspists/Hoplites and Phalangatai?

Thats up to Ealabor the videomaker, if not you'll have to wait for the release. Only the shield animations some other weapons have changed, i think the sword/overhand spear animations are roughly the same.

PD: I have some new ideas for anims (sword/overhand spear), i need to test how they look though.
