Kolba
In next versions I am planning to introduce naval warfare and travel system:
Each faction will have two types of naval units - fleets and merchant ships.
FLEETS
They are spawning in following places:
Rheged fleet - Liverpool Bay
Rheged fleet nr. 2 - Corsewall Point
Gwynedd fleet - North to Anglesey
Manaw fleet - East to Ynis Manaw
Laighin fleet - South-West to Ynis Manaw
Alcluyd fleet - Clyde Estuary
Dal Riadan fleet - Mull of Kintyre
Pictish fleet - Firth of Tay
Gododdin fleet - Firth of Forth
Bernicia fleet - Lindisfarne
So the naval warfare will concentrate on Irish Sea and North Sea and the faction naval wars configuration is:
1. Rheged vs Gwynedd vs Manaw vs Laighin vs Dal Riada vs Alcluyd
2. Picts vs Gododdin vs Bernicia
There will be several types of ships:
Currach with no sails
Currach is a type of Irish boat with a wooden frame, over which animal skins or hides were once stretched. The cheapest type of ship and it's easiest to be destroyed. It is not able to withstand a clash with another ship, as the rawhide hull would easily tear.
Currach with sails
Larger type of currach, with sails. A bit better durability.
Briton ship
Post-Roman boats, larger than currachs.
Briton ship v.2
Another version.
Germanic ship
Long Anglo-Saxon ship.
In the battles player will be able to stop his ship along the enemy's one and begin skirmish with javelins and bows. There is also possibility to make the boarding on enemy's ship (for larger boats, not for easily breakeable currachs and such).
Some pictures of how it looks in Roots of Yggdrassil (with Viking type of ships):
MERCHANT SHIPS
They are spawning in the same positions as military ships. The merchant ships are sailing from one maritime town/castle/village to another one (it is working in the same way as caravans). I will disable the merchant ships for Laighin, Gwynedd and Manaw as they are not possesing any towns or castles.
TRAVELLING
Player will be able to buy all types of ships in maritime towns (currachs also in villages). I am going to add new skill "Sailing". You must have certain level of sailing if you want to buy a ship. The currachs won't need high level of this skill, but Briton and Anglo-Saxon ships will. If you don't want to learn Sailing skill, you can always recruit ship captains in ports.
