Recruit
Roads on the world map that allow faster travel (of course they're more likely to be frequented by bandits and the like).

It was suggested by a few people on the SA forums. I liked the idea- it would allow you to know generally where caravans and prisoner trains would be and provide an incentive for more trade-oriented characters.

Even back before governments formally took to the task of building roads horses and carts would define a dirt road. It wasn't always a straight line and sometimes mud and ruts would hinder travel more than help it.

Awesome.

Also bacterial infections could seriously hamper the fighting effectiveness of soldiers who were in the field so the game should simulate meat and fish going off if stored for extended periods of time at temperatures above 5 degrees celcius.

I agree. I think the landscape looks a little empty without a few roads.

I'm sure this suggestion has already been noted and considered, but the map does seem barren at present. Roads would be a great addition to the game, even just to give more life to the world map. You could also perhaps have some smaller inns between towns to stop in and perhaps find heroes or different troops to recruit and spin tales of adventure and gather quests, just like the taverns.

Of course, not being in a town means, realistically, they would get raided if not well-protected so it probably wouldn't work.

Regardless of roads being implemented, I wouldn't mind seeing the speed being increased. Not just for you and your party, but for everything on the map. Even with a high map speed rating, it can become tedious and slow running/riding back and forth between towns at times. Increasing the general speed might be something worth looking at if possible.

Or at least giving a hotkey to go to Time X4 or something.

Hold down control and everything shifts into high gear. Course, holding that down too much and you'll run right into an enemy War Party you weren't ready for.

I want fields with grass waving in wind
Dunno why, this game just gives such feeling. For now, I simply have to imagine it :]

Actually I think there are roads, you cant see them, but I am pretty sure they are there. I think all that is needed it the roads to be painted on the map.

Try starting your party at tulga and have them go to praven, or from wercheg to zendar. they dont make a route as the crow flies, they seem to be following a path.

SIGH

ANYWAY, roads should ABSOLUTELY exist. They should speed up movement mostly by lessening the encumbrance and party-size penalties because they are most useful to merchant types, so that one guy traveling light gets a very small incentive to travel on the road, but a big patrol with tons of supplies would get mired in the forest. Thus bandits would be roaming all over the place, but most AI parties would stick to the roads. There would be a new "guard" party that would just patrol the roads between towns, while the scouts, patrols and manhunters would veer off looking for bandits and enemies. This would

- Make it harder to play "keep-away" when escorting merchants.
- Make traveling between towns faster and more organic.
- Give more variety to the gameplay.
- Make things safer for weak characters.
- Make an actual war more believable and fun, with the AI guarding its movement routes, supply lines, and hopefully bridges.
- If stationary parties slowly become less and less visible ("Ambush" or "Hide" skill added), the random parties would hide along the road and only make themselves known to attack a tempting target, thus trying to avoid the patrols.
and more I'm sure

No, I just think that the character can only move in a set number of directions, you can test it by moving your characters from A to B, then from point C (which is next to point A) to point D (which is next to point B) This should clarify it

A......C......
..............
..............
..............
.......B......D

Your character should walk an identical path, making a turn at the same point as on th other journey.
