I say go for it. If I find out some time out of RoY I might work as a scener here (not main, though). I can already imagine playing as Venice and wtfpwning Sicily with an army of pavise crossbowmen and soldiers in heavy plate armor with mace and shield.

Yeah, this would be cool. Although I must admit, Britan at War interests me a bit more, I'd play this as well. I guess I just like the barbarious scots against the noblemen english.

A few suggestions.
  • Make the Papal States un-joinable.
  • Make the Pope always stay in the town.
  • Perhaps make The Holy Roman Empire and the Papal States permanently at war? Or maybe pre-set times through scripting when there is peace and when there is war.

i cannot understand why you gave those 3 suggestions... :|

i think the papal state should be joinable, the pope shouldn't stay in town (he wasn't as the mdoern pope, but he was more like a king in the middle age) and the HRE and the papal states weren't always at war... :|

anyway i think you should really start this new mod, cause it seems amazing...

and your doin a wise thing on makin mod focused only on a certain area cause i think they're more funny to play :)

Meh, in my history lessons I was told the Pope/Papal States were always war with the Holy Roman Empire, and that the Pope never went to battles himself.

I guess that's another reason for me not to trust my teacher ...

If can be of some help, we started (and never finished) a mod about Italy in period (1200 - 1500). We had some topics (in Italian language off course). If those can be of some help, many of us I'm sure will ready and happy to join.

If I can give just one hint... between 1200 ÷ 1500, there was many factions in Italy, and lots of them had a great imprtance all over europe (not only Papal States and few others), like Milano (Milan), Venezia (Venice), Ferrara (Ferrara), Firenze (Florence), Napoli (Naples). Some of them were really military/plitical/economical threats for some major countries in all Europe.

Not completely true... Pope Julius II was almost always in battlefield during War of the League of Cambrai http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_League_of_Cambrai#Holy_League_.281511-13.29:wink:
