Does anybody have a clue why I can't use this as a default program to open .brfs? Am I missing something?
I have to drag a brf on-to the openbrf.exe on order to open them.

Make use of the standard way. The specific option under the Settings > Register BRF extension menu is kind of broken.

Hi there,

The link to the source code on the first page is not working, and I haven't been able to locate it with google either. Is it possible to still get the source code for this somewhere?

I've made a public Mercurial mirror with every zipped update available as a changeset.
Even if it isn't updated to the latest version, is still the most decent thing you'll find on the entire Internet:

Code:

help me, i cant export smd in blender 2.7
You need an addon/plugin for Blender to import smd files.

I got some problem myself. When importing a skeleton in openBRF it is all distorted and the limbs are all over the place, yet I don't know why. It worked before so I don't have a clue what's wrong now.

Profound apologies for the long absence... RL and stuff.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I've lost the latest source version myself.
My computer was stolen, almost a year ago, and that really sucks.
I know, it was really dumb of me, left with no updated backup.

Anyway, I fixed the link, so now at least it links correctly to the last version I have (which is 0.0.80).
I have been planning to redo the last changes at some point (which is always a bit depressing), but then didn't, at least for now.

(Also, in general I'm leaving this project in some messy internal state in the source, I imagine I'm giving a really hard time to anyone trying to add functionalists. I'm not excluding the possibility to add something myself.)

I don't know if they come in handy, but here's all the zips I have saved along the years:
Code:
https://bitbucket.org/Swyter/openbrf/downloads

And here's the 0.0.80e source:
Code:
https://bitbucket.org/Swyter/openbrf/downloads/openBrf_source_0.0.80e.zip

Thank you!
It does come handy!
You are precious as usual.

Still, I've just re-read my own description of the [latest updates in 0.0.81] and the list is depressingly long... plus there's a few features which I myself enjoy a lot and which costed quite a bit of internal rewiring...
Why, oh why didn't I duly save the source online as usual or at least used some subversioning system...

Switching to more positive thoughts... just for information, here is a little research project I did as part of the so called RL during this time...  you may recognize a warbandish and OpenBRF-ish tone in the used examples and demo:

The newest version of OpenBRF is amasing, but why can't I drag and drop resource files just like in an earlier version? Is there a way to make this possible? It makes it so much faster and practical..

Thanks for your help

*checks*  Damn, you're right, I must have accidentally broken it.

For reasons which can be found in this thread, it might be some time before any bug fix, but, if it is any consolation, drag-and-drop still seems to work if you target OpenBRF's title bar.

Would a future version allow for export of .mtl files, too? So far I failed to find a way to export .obj with their .mtk file to have the txtures and uvmaps intact in blender.

I am installing skins for NW and in order to have multiple skins for one faction I need to use openBRF. So I installed it with the link from this forum but how do I use and open the program? I am very new to this and I have no idea how to open this program since it doesn't have an application. I made a new folder for it on my C:drive but I can't open the program. If anyone could tell me how to open it that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey, where did the auto-rig functionality go to? That thing was a damn live saver! Is it hiding under a different name?

Select a rigged model that you want to use as reference, do Edit > Copy.
Then select your about-to-be-rigged model and do Edit > Paste rigging*.

Voilà. Mediocre skeletal rigging.  :fruity:
