SP Native Calradia - Dark Alleys - A Darker Calradia (SECOND Beta Released)

Users who are viewing this thread

problem with the graphics though - you've apparently put your darker skins on top of the original ones from Native, which causes my poor laptop to lag even more; I've always thought that less trees and no leaves on them would improve things, but this skin-on-top-of-skin thing actually makes things as bad as with leaves on. And it's choppy even in the open where I normally don't have much trouble with in Native.

Aggh I downloaded mod extracted with RAR frog and then i copy folder to modules and then game loads then says Rpg error or what ever can someone tell me why the mod wont load...

EDIT:Is this for 1.011?

Yeah, the mod can be pretty taxing on performance. You could delete the darker re-skins and just have a happier looking game, or lower your settings?

My machine is pretty poor standard, I have just about every effect turned off, small battle sizer and details about mid-setting... it runs fairly smoothly.

UPDATE: Second betas avaliable below, it adds afew extra items but most importantly replaces the mercenaries avaliable in taverns.

The original mercs are still avaliable (through upgrading), but the taverns now provide a variety of new troops (each with branch options to new exciting specialised troops). I've mentioned afew, but I'll let you discover the rest for yourselves...

Edit: Transparent shields mess up, but I'll fix it for the next release.

The mod was getting slightly too victorianesque, and although the mod is ficitional and without a time period I wanted to bring it back slightly so I've injected a dose of tricornes to balance it all out...

I probably won't play this mod because unfortunately fantasy etc doesn't really interest me, but I just wanted to say that the models and gear you've chosen looks cool -IYI-O-R-T-. I especially like that black armour shown out of game on the first page. It's important to get units looking convincing and having a style, for me it really ruins the battles if the soldiers don't look right. The Pilgrim and the scary guy with the hammer next to him on this page are a good example of this; they look convincing. Good work

The fantasy things just a way of getting round the restrictions things like "historic accuracy".

I tweaked all the mercenaries so they're custom designed to the player, you can pretty much design your army to look the way you want. Someone might say "I want silly troops like clowns and fishmongers" and another might want a regiment of riflemen... it's all there.

So give it ago, you might be converted

(If you have an idea of what you'd like, tell me and I'll tell you what upgrades to do to get there... or if it isnt in the game I'll note it down and perhaps include it later on).

Just like to say I absolutely love this mod, one of the most original I've played in ages. Couple of things I would like to suggest:

Maybe some multiple shot before reload firearms? obviously nothing over the top but maybe a 3 shot pistol or something so you dont go overbalanced by having it too accurate.

Also I dont know if this is possible but in terms of kingdom management how about some faction specific fief buildings? dark temples for the cultists, human farms for cleavers, things like that.

There should be a "rusty six shot pistol" or something similar... gives you six shots before reload but I'll try and provide some more firearms for the next release.

Faction specfic buildings sounds ace but it's not really my area in terms of putting it into action. I'd also like to include pickpocketing and increased bandit ambushes in towns.

I'm not sure how much time I can give "modding" as I need to get alot of other stuff done before the summer break ends. If anyone's interested in helping send me a PM.

I'm enjoying this mod I'll admit, but I desire for a single set of gleaming plate, and a good sponge to clean my face, to be the single bastion of light in a dark kingdom...

i really like the more darker feelin of this new calradia, but the rowdies and the noble decievers aren't quite the same thing? I mean...they're both criminals... :???:

Try the Calradia guard Lord uniforms? They're quite shiny.

Killing and eating people and human sacrifice are criminal acts too... the Calradia guard are the only real "good guys".

Updates are gonna have to slow right down as I've a gig coming up and a uni assignment and they need the most of my attention.

yes, but i mean...they're both thieves, aren't they?

I pictured the Rowdies as more thugs or violent criminals. The kind that would run a blade through you for looking at them.

Nobles want the money, Rowdies want to hear the neck snap. Both could be thieves but they're different enough to warrant their own factions.

Actually throughout history this was done to gain the power of your enemies, and I'm almost certain some forms of cannibalism still exist even in societies that have been exposed and have at least semi regular contact with the western and eastern worlds.

sure as hell i'm going to play this:razz:
looks nice and i like the clowns:mad:d:
maybe some heads with a mask would be nice?

something like the brank. here is description

Another weird punishment was the brank, also known as the bride's scold. The brank was a punishment enacted on women who gossiped or spoke too freely. It was a large iron framework placed on the head of the offender, forming a type of cage. There was a metal strip on the brank that fit into the mouth and was either sharpened to a point or covered with spikes so that any movement of the tongue was certain to cause severe injuries to the mouth. The woman was then led by a city official through the streets of town by a chain, then usually tied to a whipping post or pillory to stand in view of the cruel and verbally abusive public.
