Models on offer...

Gorillas...

Aliens...

Dark elves...

Werewolves...

Mushroom People...

Current pack in process...

From left to right: Suprised mime, sad mime, happy mime, "ugly baby" model (worn as a helm), sword balancer, female jester and female punk.

Here's a preview of the costume pack also in development...

Just send a PM and I'll send you the link.

Not all are uploaded yet, but hopefully each will contain a pack with head models and possibly body meshes, armours and other etcs (all in a brf and textured).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've distanced myself from the modding scene for the moment but like to return to it every now and then when I can tie it in with my work.

For uni I've been looking at naturalism and incorporating it into my work...
I'm working on various studies of animals like that of the exploration and cataloging of a new island.

I thought it would be great if I could construct a new island, digitally through modding Mount and Blade.

It's a giant task, it's likely I wont see it the whole way through but I've been working on bits and pieces and generally prodding at the idea.

The concept is that villages, towns and castles are replaced with "key points". Each key point provides something useful. Here's a list of possibilities...

1, Potential wood - for craving spears etc?
2, Breeding grounds / fish pools - for food?
3, Dead parachutist - homage to Lord of the Flies - clothing and radio (to fix this you'd need to collect parts hidden in other areas)

AGAIN I don't have coding abilities it's unlikely any of this will happen. I don't expect help these are merely ideas.

I think Villagers could be replaced with crabs or birds, with the height levels done as part of the model (perhaps as a hat with the rest of the body made transparent)... this will then walk around the set paths of the scene without attacking the player. I'd like to replace all people with animals or plants. The player will be the only human.

Hunting is best done through the map although it could perhaps become possible if the enemy troops were to ride horses, but remain incapable of attack and the success of the "battle" is measured on the deaths of the "horses" and not the troops.

I realise the people of these forums hate idea threads, I don't expect anyone to make this mod for me... I'm simply stating things I've thought about and am now mentioning them in case they assist or inspire someone else. I also haven't merely ranted this off without any weight behind it...

I've made a gorilla model (head, body, calfs and hands all present and textured). If anyone wants to rig them then they're welcome to use them in their mod.

I've also made the dead parachutist but it still needs work (and a parachute).

Vegetation is an issue I'm also looking into as every where looks like a field unless I crank up the grass (which slaughters my machine). I'm trying to put together some low poly trees and bushes which should provide enough scenery to create enough atmosphere a jungle areas.

Any successes will be passed on to the community via this thread and any donations, feedback or assistance is welcome.

Well, I don't think we've seen that before... a mod without human beings :D
I'm no coder or anything so I can't help you out but I'd like to wish you good luck tho ;)

For one thing it's a fantastic idea really. Such a mod you would generate a cult following.

You dont have to have someone rig it for you. With SM2obj, you can use a native rigging to hook it up. Cant think of the link offhand but do a search on sm2obj iirc.

You've certainly inspired me to some ideas

Ok, right now I'm visualising a mod where you recruit animals and as they gain experience upgrade them to bigger, stronger animals...
Recruit some cats & dogs and before you know it you have an army of rhinos, lions & gorillas...

Not really what you had in mind, but I let my imagination out of it's cage for a minute and that popped out ^^
But wouldn't it be awesome?

lol..

Pretty sweet gorilla. I'd love to see it punch some looters.
Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. A nice link to my mod ;)

Thanks for all the positive feedback! The reason I'm posting here instead of the mod section is because it's highly likely that this mod wont see completion... with that to one side, the features are open for discussion and anything that does get made will be posted for use by others.

Shagrath: Armies of animals wasn't quite what I meant... if you had something like a gorilla though (it's going to look unnatural running around like a human but there's little we can do about that) it could be possible to have the animals body in various "builds" allowing it's armour ratings to differ depending on it's strength.

If you were using the horses method... for something like hunting deer... it may be that the scripting can be set to defensive... so they run away from you... then when a deer dies the scene ends and one deers meat is added to your inventory... these kinds of possibilities however will need to be tested by scripters.

ealabor: Thanks for the suggestion! However I googled SM2obj and it only came up with 5 sites that didn't look like they bared any relation. If you find the link feel free to PM it for me. Alternatively if anyone does rig it then I'd be happy to host the file and open it for free use.

FrisianDude: Once it's out for the community there's bound to be at least one mod where that's possible.

MISHO: When you click on a village it offers a menu, the villages would be replaced with key areas so if you travelled across the island on the map and reached "Potential wood" then the menu would offer you options of things to create from the wood... so javelins or spear.... perhaps more options would then become available as you advance. I may take you up on that scenes offer... if I make any advancements with props I'll let you know.

Lord of the flies... ghaaaaaghhhhh why! hate that book with a red, hot, seething, red, burning passion.

A boy gets murdered by having a giant boulder fall on him... even if your not into the literature side of it that's got to have some appeal surely?

I've had no luck with the rigging, the program doesn't seem to want to work and my uni work is moving in another direction.

I've sent some messages out to afew riggers I know of, to see if anyone's interesting in helping. Here's a shot of the torso and the model in wings (head and body aren't connected on actual model, this was merely for my sketchbook)...

To open the chances of someone stepping in and helping, here's the model for download (unrigged): http://www.mediafire.com/?quzdkjtgmhi
Those who can't wait to get gorillas into their game can use the head model as it is (no rigging required). Here's a shot of the head as a helmet ingame (while testing)...

I've also made a cat's head which I can post the model for if anyone's interested. It was just an experiment in converting the human models into animals.

Highlander's hunting mod would be fine for hunting, it does exactly what you want and is not too hard to implement.

I didn't think it was released? I found the topic via search but thought it was put to rest.

I know a couple of other mods recently looked into hunting... it's not really a priority at the moment. I've just got too much on.
