Medieval Duke and Mercenaries Mod

Ok I start a new topic dedicated to my Medieval mod, instead of using my other thread on the upcoming Renaissance Mod.

Also, NICKALTMAN made a nice version of this mod. It changes some stuff and correct some mistakes I made.

It adds a lot of new items (but less than in my other mods) and changes the troop trees and so the way you fight. I always loved hallberds and pikes so I strenghtened their damage value and made lots of troops using them. Cavalry is still really tough but weak against  pikeman. Feel free to use the items for your mods but GIVE CREDITS.

I didn't use Python so thanks to those who created the TroopEditor (here : http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/topic,34154.0.html ) and the Item Editor tools (here : http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/topic,27735.0.html)   :D


Also, post screenshots. I really like to see how you play this mod.

Here are some of mine :   


I have a tip for beginners : hire as much recruits you can from nearby villages and then do missios to earn a bit of gold or find weak parties of outlaws/scorchers but beware, they are tough.
There are still some strange bugs like really big loots taken from enemies, but it's still playable.

Your modeling is really fine and you have a good eye for making the faction troop trees distinct and aesthetic.

Luigi, everyone know your mod(and your great stuff), it's great!
Now, we wait on your Reneisance Dukes mod.
I have one sugestion, can you create your owne merc troop three, this from Medieval... is ok, but I beleave, you can create better one.

Khergit Horse archer has no boots. Is this a bug? How do I fix this?

Not a bug.Khergit horsemen don't like boots. They prefer to feel the softeness of their horses' skin and their muscles moving  under their naked feet. Also they have nothing under their armors as they like to feel the....the pain.

No just jocking . It is a stupid error I made and forgot to correct. Can be corrected easilly with the troop editor (see first post for links) .Open the troop.txt with the editor,  add some boots, then update the file and save. Saddly, I think you'll have to begin a new game to see the changes. Sorry for this.

You need to make an alpha channel so the black doesn't show up.

Dude I thought you were serious for a while. I added item 144 - Mail Boots (itm_mail_boots). It should be all right now. I think that you should update the download and call this one quits. So it's pure and clean. If you have time cause this mod rocks.
Tell me one more thing. So basically only new armour is Khergit veteran horse archer, right? The gold one.

Damn you. Now I discovered troop editor. When I fixed Khergit Horse Archer I decided to finish what you didn't in the mod.
You changed the troops but not the Lords.
So I decided to "fix" the Lords and Kings with new equipment. So basicaly I left Nord and Khergit lords alone cause their gear is OK with the troops.

I changed almost all Vaegir lords cause they don't fit with the new image of Vaegir army. Also I added mostly new helmets for Swadians and Rhodoks to fit the image of their armys. Also some minor armour changes. I didn't change weapons. Somewhere I also changed civil outfit to be more noble.

I changed the name of Manhunters to Militia Patrol that suits them better. Also the order of the tropps inside. First Land Lord, then sergeants, halebardiers and then recruits.

I added some more amour for Sea Raiders to make them stronger like other bandits. Also gave the a couple halbards to chalenge calvary.

That's all. Now it kindda feels more complete. If you would consider to be an add on on this mod it would be great. I will upload the files.  :shock:

Cool !.  You are free to put a link here and call it '' MD&MM Nickaltman Version'' or something like this. If you do so, I will put this link on thre first page too. Just be sure to make clear to downloaders that it is an alternative to my mod. That is a good idea to do things like that. Keep learning to mod, maybe we'll work together...

Thank you Luigi. :oops: Well what I had in mind it's done. I will test it some more just for slight changes maybe and then I will release it here. What about MT Duke&Mercs expanded version?

Here are the changes:
- Swadian Lords reequiped (mostly helmets)
- Rhodok Lords reequpied (mostly helmets)
- Vaegirs Lords totaly reequiped (new armor, helmets and gauntlets)
- Nord Lords only couple changed helmets
- Kings Haralus, Graveth and Yarolek reequpied
- all claimants better equiped
- Swadian Archers and Swadian Sharpshooters tweeked a little bit (archers have heraldic armor with tabard while sharpshooters with surcoat, no more brigantine)
- Swadian Castle guard tweeked (heraldic mail surcoat added)
- Khergit Horse Archer added boots which were missing
- Camp defender and Sword Sister better equiped (more helmets added)
- Sea Raides have more armor and some hallberds
- Trainers have better cloths (trainer near Jelkala is dressed like Rhodok heavy infantry, rest just some armor)
- Manhunters renamed into Militia Patrol and the order in the patrol is tweeked so the Land Lord comes first and the recruits last
- Ordinary and Unremarkable townsmen reeqiuped so they seem townsmen (from the follow the spy mission)
- soldiers in the tutorial better equiped
- kidnapped girl added different dresses
- little picture in the start menu has the name of the mod
- warrider logo has the name of the mod but its done badly and it has a black edges (but its cool anyways)
- text bugs corrected in the name of equipment and troops

Thats it I think. I will check it some more incase I missed something.

But here is another question. I read that before this mod had the Inqusiton party. So I wanted to add an elite bloodthursty enemy in the shape of Inquisition. So I created 3 new units. Inquisitor, Master Inquisitor and Inquisitor Lord. Take a look:









I know how to add them in the existing party but I don't know how to create one (party I mean. I tryed but they don't show up. What do you think? I thought they would be really rare but very dangerous.

Sounds like some fine changes. I'll try it out.
But the name "MT Duke&Mercs expanded version still sounds like Luigi's work. I think it should be something like 'altered' or 'edited version" - or just have your name in it.
