A quick question on OpenOffice Calculator

OpenOffice Calculator is basically a free version of Microsoft Excel--even the interfaces look alike. Unfortunately, I'm quite inexperienced with making spreadsheets.

I need to count the number of times a certain value appears on a list of data points. Specifically, I'm doing a biology lab on plants, and I need a quick way to accurately count how many plants have short/medium/long stems and have a cc/CC/Cc genotype. I've already counted manually, but I'm worried that I miscounted.

So...does anyone know of a fast way to get these things counted?

hey buddy

basically what you need to do is create two seperate columns. one with all your genotype data in and another with stem length.
then its as easy as running a filter command (poking around the menu will help you find this) and SHABAM you can check how many exactly you have in each sub catagory (genotype cc/Cc/CC stem length short/medium/long)

hope this is of some help!
