Replacing the flying arrow model
« on: October 05, 2008, 12:19:27 PM »
Hi,

I want to make a small request. The flying arrow model is bothering me a lot. It's an extremely ugly "blurry brown stick". I don't want to use bows just because of this. So please can someone replace the flying arrow and bolt models with the stationary ones?. And give me a file or something to load it on my game. Thanks a lot.

I have actually modified the arrows by making them longer and lowering tris by about 60%, and using those for the flying missiles. I'll upload the files to the repository shortly.

Hmm.. I think I managed to do something wrong :/ When I try to shoot with bow, game freezes and an error comes up "Get_object failed for arrow_flying". This happens everytime somebody tries to shoot, error text is just a bit different, "Get_object for barbed_arrow_flying" etc..

A bit of the code inside item_kinds1.txt, I think my failure is in here, but I don't get it..

I'm not good in things like these ;[

The module.ini change should be
load_mod_resource = missiles
instead of
load_mod_resource: missiles

Thats why Myger is having the problem :)

Other than the error in the instructions, nice little change. Makes flying arrows look much better.
I shall destroy you! I shall cleave off your limbs with a dull axe, rip off your head with my bare hands, tear out your eyes with a rusty SPOON! So please stand there while I find the time. Oh, so busy...

Help, I've made the changes in my item_kinds and module.ini files but whenever I try to start my game it gives me the error "Error too many variation on mesh Bolts". What am I doing wrong?

Got it working, but there are no textures on the arrows in-flight.

Behold a people shall come from the north, and a great nation.
They shall hold the bow and the lance; they are cruel and will not show mercy;
their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses
every one put in array, like a man to battle.

Yeah, me too. Wondering if it has conflict with Graphic Enhancement 2.5...

That's strange. I assume it has to be something to do with that, since I simply directed the models to use the native texture.

Okay, I tested with / without Graphical Enhancement 2.5. The results are same.

Graphical Enhancement 2.5 has nothing to do with "no texture on arrows in flight" problem.

I'm running out of idea here. It would be great to have textures.

I had the same issue, not only with this, but with other weapon packs that used native textures as a base (in 1.03). What I did is make a clone of the native material and texture, and assing it to the mesh, that fixed it.

Sounds complicated enough.

Could you please explain?
