Gallus, what are your plans regarding the quests and the player's interaction with his/other factions?
Are you going to include diplomatic options for the factions?
I am thinking of making being a mercenary a larger part of gameplay by increasing the wages you receive for being hired as a mercenary company. It would become an actual job that makes you rich and when you take cities or defeat enemy parties you get significant rewards. And the wages you receive will increase with higher faction relations.
Regarding quests, I plan to make new quests involving battles or sieges rather than completing boring tasks. One in particular is "reinforce battle" quest which will be given if there is a large battle nearby. Similarly, "relieve siege" quest would be randomly assigned when one of the faction's cities is under siege.
One of the most important thing, though, would be the ability to establish your own faction. Eventually I will try to implement a "mercenary lord" system where certain lords can be convinced to join your faction long as you pay them. Supplying them will be very expensive so you can only hire as many as you can pay for.
Hopefully companions will also be able to be made into "loyal" lords.
These features may not be implemented in the first version, though.
Diplomatic quests such as "wage war" or "make peace" will be assigned by the Kings rather than guildmasters or lords. If you establish your own faction you can wage war or make peace by talking to other faction leaders.
...btw I heard the module system may be coming out soon with the next update, so modding might finally start again after all these months
