Whether you are engaging a few bandits in a skirmish or taking part in an epic battle, you want to know how various troops perform and which enemies present the most danger. To address this and to give the player a detailed account of the battle, we have added a battle report overlay. In this week’s blog, we take a look at this feature and try to explain how it works.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/69

Yay ... Bannerlord caught up to game design being implemented since the 2000s

After the past 2 weeks of somewhat decent blogs I though that would start to be the norm for TWs, wrong!

Taleworlds, for the love of god... I DONT GIVE A **** ABOUT THIS, GIVE US THE ALPHA/BETA SO THAT WE CAN ENJOY YOUR MASTERPIECE! <3

Is it me or those symbols mean that they break down the kills per soldier "type"? That's actually pretty awesome to check out how effective some troops are at fighting other compositions.

Also this feature:
"The battle report screen also comes up when the player decides to resolve a battle on the campaign map instead of playing it out. This could bring simulated battles a bit of excitement as the simulation is carried out incrementally and casualties start to pile up. The player can, of course, skip the simulation to end the battle instantly."

Sounds so fun! I can already see it "Okay let's auto fight this one out... Okay this is going well... Alright not so well now... Aaaand my cavalry is gone - MY COMPANIONS NO ABORT ABORT"

looks like a MP FPS overview, but that is not a bad thingy. I am not a fan of the sword icon tho (that represents how many you defeated), the others were easy to understand.

We should be allowed to take command of a Companion (or a random troop if no companions present) if we get knocked out. I believe Floris does this.

Thanks for the blog.

QUESTION: Can you give us a tour of a village? Street views, what it sells, what's new....etc.

Good new feature although I can foresee the screen getting clogged up when you have multiple parties in one fight.

You are referring to multiplayer which Warband already has this feature, this is a new addition for SP. Which game from 2000 did that again? I'll wait while you go through a very small list of games where that feature would even be relevant.

Must say I'm not terribly enthused by the rolling text bottom-left of screen with notifications like "Battanian Scout knocked unconscious by Vlandian Armoured Squire".

These were a pain in the arse in Warband, and often got in the way of your seeing something important on the screen. Please say we can choose to turn it off, at least? If we can get that information now by pressing TAB, then we don't need it on the screen at all times cluttering up the view of the battle.

Lets simply remove this from the game. Agreed?

There already is an option to turn that off in Warband. It's called "Report Casualties" and it can be found under General Options tab.
So I am pretty sure they will keep the option in Bannerlord as well

At least allow us to resize UI. the kill report in chat literally takes up half the screen to the point where you can't see what you're doing
Also i do agree with the majority here, we have see this before, and we would love to see some alpha or beta action. ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR SMALL TWEEKS.

the issue is, however, if this should be ON or OFF by default. Warband had a use for those messages (to know what was going on), Bannerlord does not.

As people tend to ignore options and all that, IMO, it should be OFF.

Let old timers that miss Warband or testers/modders working on a new feature use it for debugging if they want to.

you can also use multiple monitors or a widescreen

So, in the first screen, 107 Valandians (including 64 knights & squires) attack 45 Battanians and suffer 42 casualties (24 killed & 18 wounded) while only wounding 2 Battanians. Wow! This must be an ambush. So much for knights on horses.

In the autoresolve, 96 Valandians (including 62 knights & squires) attack 55 Battanians and suffer 61 casualties (47 dead & 14 wounded) while inflicting 31 casualties (23 dead & 8 wounded). Even though auto resolve still respects the ambush/terrain advantage you clearly take more casualties than fighting it out yourself - similar story to Warband.

In both cases, clansmen & footmen were the most effective Battanians, so it doesn't appear to be down to archery.

PS in the first screen, how do 15 Valandians qualify for promotion by collectively wounding one Battanian? That seems nuts, unless it carries forward prospective promotions that weren’t paid for. If that was the case, it doesn’t tell what promotions were won in this battle. Bizarre.

EDIT - Oops I’m reading it the wrong way round!
