Progress Report

Warrior of Eternity is a work in progress. As such there is no realease nor release dates, so please do not ask.
Most of our work and idea's are posted on out other forum.. This thread is only used for progress reports, updates, news and of course supportive posts from the mod community!
This mod is not dead, even if this thread goes quiet for a while, the other forum still has new posts everyday.
This post will be updated regularly! Check back often!

Warrior of Eternity is a total conversion fantasy mod, it will be highly story-orientated and not the 'grind fest' that native currently is. We plan on making it an interactive land where your actions have far more consequences then in native, and where the player has far more options.
Players will also be forced to decide a 'character build', max out strength to weild the best weapons but at the expence of neglecting your other attributes, or max out engineering to be able to weild the powerful Dwarvern firearms, but unable to wear anything except the lightest of armours.
All items will have much higher requirements to use than in native.

The mod is set in the continent of Nerr, a fantasy world dreamt up by the mods visionary and founder - The_Invincible_Knight (renamed to Incontinent_Knight). Nerr is a land full of fantasy races and beasts that roam the land contantly striving against one another. Over the last century evil beasts and races have invaded and grown in number, forceing the rightous armies to rally their troops and meet their mutual enemies on the battlefield.

Features:
Six unique factions
THE PLAYER WILL BE ABLE TO START A CHARACTER AS ANY OF THE FOLLOWING RACES.
The Nerrian Empire
These humans arrived in Nerr from a continent in the west several thousand years ago. They built settlements on the open plains in the heart of Nerr, where they enjoyed peace for the most part. Exceptionally good at farming the land, the Nerrians flourished as they traded with the other races. They learnt of the One God through the mysterious Nayian priests and became unquestioning servants to him, abandoning their old barbaric gods. The Paladin Order was established to maintain the Nerrian borders, to uphold the law and to preach the faith, which over the thousands of years has been slowly twisted from the original Nayian.
The Nerrians are masters of horses and have an extremely powerful cavalry. The foot soldiers of the Empire are brave and loyal.

The Elven Nations
Mighty forests stretch over much of Nerr, they are inhabited by all manner of races and beasts but most notably the Elves. The Wood Elves are masters of the bow, they are quick, fast and sometimes ride stags to fire whilst mounted, the Wood Elves are self proclaimed protectors of the forests, they are normally elusive and live deep in the forests. The proud and noble Light Elves by contrast live in huge elegant golden citadels on the forests edge, they are masters of melee combat and often ride into battle on the backs of their faithful unicorns.
The Elves enjoy the longest lifespan of the mortal races often living for up to 600 years.

The Dwarven Clans
Master craftsmen and engineers the Dwarvern Clans inhabit the mountains in eastern Nerr, they live in large towns carved into the very mountain sides. Their towns are heavily fortified, preferring the defensive approach to hard times rather than sending out large armies.
The Dwarves were for several centuries at war amongst themselves, leaving their borders unpatrolled and unprotected, with the end of the Clan Wars and the invention of firearms however, they are now proving more than capable of restoring order to their lands, it is yet to be seen whether they will use their new inventions to put a stop to the invading demons.
The Dwarves have strong but slow foot soldiers and cavlary, they have good gunners but due to the cumbersome boomsticks they carry around, Dwarvern Gunners are forced to wear light armour.
The Dwarves favour their Mountain Rams and mighty Mammomar to other mounts.

The Undead Legions
A chaotic society maintained by fear and punishment, primaraly ruled by Liches and Vampire Elders. Liches are mortals who through necromantic arts have succeeded in extending their natural life far beyond that of any elf, their studies have also unveiled the most basic necromantic art, raising the dead into a mindless reanimation dominated by its masters will. More powerful necromancers can raise more powerful undead, even heroes that still remember the horror of their last mortal battle.
Vampire Elders are powerful ancient spirits that crossed from another plane of existance into Nerr eons ago, possessing bodies of whomsoever they wished. For ages the Vampire Elders could pass their 'gift' onto mortals, however during the War of the Immortals almost all Vampire Elder's were slain and the Vampire race was severely weakened. Facing the elimination of their unique breed altogether the Vampire Elders made a pact with the Liches, in return for their service in battle the Liches would summon weaker vampiric spirits crossworlds into reanimated bodies, creating twisted lesser vampires.
The Vampires consider the Liches to be untrue immortals, and blame them for the weakening of their kin, but unable to reproduce on their own, and with the Liches fear of the Vampire Elders raw necromantic power, an uneasy balance is brought to the anarchical Undead hierarchy.
The undead rely on strength in numbers, their troops are poorly equipped and they lack good ranged capability.

The Nayian Civilization
The Nayians are the oldest of all intelligent creatures they are strong of will and immortal, how they came to be is a mystery to all but the Nayian High-Priests, who keep their religious beliefs a close guarded secret.
They have inhabited Nerr since the beginning, but for the most part they are forgotten in history, they are a solitary race, caring not for the fate of mortal beings.
Long ago, in a time before Elves and Dwarves the Nayian Empire was said to have stretched across Nerr and beyond, but their once mighty civilization has been diminishing for thousands of years, the Qualthasas betrayal which led to the War of the Immortals was simply the killing blow.
The remaining Nayians believe their time on Nerr is over, they hope to be united with the 'One God' so that they may pass from this plane of existance and become something altogether more powerful.
How and if they will achieve that remains to be seen.

The Quelthasas Betrayers
During the golden age of Nayian Civilization, the brothers Caltan and Natlac had an exceptionally strong spiritual connection with the 'One God', Caltan who devoted his life to the mystical Nayian Religion eventually earned a seat amongst the Nayian High-Priests - who led the theocratic Nayian civilization.
Natlac studied magics, he was far more ambitious than Caltan, and was somewhat jealous that Caltan was amongst those leading the Nayians, a position Natlac felt he was better suited to. For years Natlac kept quiet, but slowly he saw that the Nayian Empire was diminishing, land once home to Nayians was now home to mortals, and he blamed this loss on the priests, who were far to embroiled in religious affairs to notice.
The more he watched and waited the more twisted he became, he eventually hated the priests and seeing them unfit to rule he began to plot against them. In order to overthrow the priests he needed more then power, he needed a substantial Nayian rebellion, but being so religious why would any Nayian turn a blade against their own priests?
Natlac found an answer to this, to channel divine magic, the power of the 'One God', this would convince the Nayian society that he was the rightful ruler. He devoted his time to study, and with the help of Nayians whose minds he had poisoned with lies he was able to realize his dream.
But alas, the bodies of those that channeled the power of the 'One God' were unable to hold it, they were deformed and driven insane. And worse, the high-priests senced the divine magic being used, and in a flash Natlac's plot was uncovered.
But unwilling to admit defeat Natlac himself tried, with his remaining loyalists, to channel the power of god. Again he failed just as before, and the rebellion was crushed before it had started.
All those whose minds and bodies had become corrupted by the power were expelled from Nayian society, exiled, as Caltan could not order his brothers life be taken.
And so from those corrupt insane exiles the Quelthasas were born, and have waged war on all those that oppose them since.
During their exile they grew greatly in number, the offspring of Quelthasas are just as bloodthirsty and corrupt as themselves.
When the Nayians discovered their growth they sent armies to crush them, but severely underestimated their numbers, or the fact that they had support from both Liches and Vampires. The war that followed is known as the War of The Immortals, in which the Quelthasas were defeated, at the cost of almost every single Nayian warrior. Natlac was slain and the remaining Quelthasas fled, not to be seen again for a thousand years.

EACH RACE HAS UNIQUE MOUNTS, ARMOUR AND WEAPONS.

New Creeps
New hostile/neutral parties will wander the land, forget mountain bandits and river pirates, all manner of men and beasts will harrass you, roaming parties of mindless dead, Quelthasas gone so insane they have been exiled from.. exile!
After the new BRF version with custom skeleton support, who knows what foul creatures we can dream up...
Suffice to say Nerr will be crawling with a far more diverse range of enemies for you to pit you skill against then Caladria, you will find it a much harsher and faster paced environment to survive in.

Faction Mercenaries
Each faction has its own mercenaries, you will only be able to hire them if you meet certain requirements. The mercenaries fill a much more important role in WoE then in native, since they are harder to obtain and fill in the shortcomings of a faction's troops.
They will be expensive to hire and the requirements to hire them will not be easily met.

Unique Lords and Leaders
Faction lords play a much larger role than in native, they will all have backstorys, unique heads and will feature in certain quests. Faction leader's will refuse to see you until you have met certain requirements, no more walking into the kings throne room as a lowly peasant.

Excellent! Those images definitely reflect the quelthasas spirit.

Welcome aboard.

Quelthasas additional information:

Demons with one of several skin colours, but most commonly flame red. They were supposed to have claws, but it's hard to believe that a demon could hold swords with claws... so I'll probably use hands instead.

The quelthasas demons are an ancient race that were once Naiyan, but were cursed after attempting to overthrow the Naiyan's emperor, Caltan. The leader of the demonic horde was Natlac, Caltan's brother. Caltan was furious with his brother and exiled both him and all of his followers. After millions of years Natlac and his horde returned for revenge.

Due to their Naiyan heritage the weapons that the Quelthasas demons use are powerful, but because of the curse which transformed them into demons (but did not cause them to lose their immortality) they have become brutal and malicious; traits which their Naiyan counterpats despise.

Their brutality is clear in the weapons they use. Powerful and cumbersome swords, huge axes and fearsome lances tipped with their own toxic blood are but a few of the deadly weapons they will employ.

The quelthasas' weapons are often black and red, due to the insidious magics that they infuse into them.

Sufficient to say, the quelthasas demons are vengeful, fearsome, brutal and love a bloody fight; their bloodlust is truly terrible to behold.

Is that sufficient? If not I can provide you with more...

That's quite enough, thank you.

I'll start making some weapon models right away.

I am planning to make a two-handed sword and a one-handed one.... And yes, implementing claws will be awkward. Maybe we can limit ourselves to using the existing models, and re-texture them in the appropriate fashion. Blood-red skin, demonic eyes, maybe some tattoos / marks / scars to reflect their demonic nature and their brutality.

By the way, what colour is their blood?  :D - for the "fearsome lances tipped with their own toxic blood"

why don't I see in the board the images I posted?

Quelthasas blood is deepest black and tinged with crimson and in true fantasy fashion it is not only a leathal poison, but also an extremely corrosive acid. The lances can only be tipped by making the lance heads out of azru - a mystical blue mineral which can be turned into a stone or a metal, dependng on the magics and forging used...

The quelthasas have corrupted some veins of azru mineral and due to both the mineral's inherent strength (it's incredibly dense; diamonds are nothing compared to the toughness of azru) and the quelthasas' ancient knowledge of azru they have perfected a way of making the veins of corrupted azru impervious to the acid's corrosive effects.

If only their enemies were so lucky; if the poison isn't enough to kill them then the acid ensures agony. But as I said they are pretty damn malicious...

I'll post two models I hastily made. I don't know anything about the Mount&Blade engine....I was just wondering if I can use bump maps for my models.

Don't think so.
Once he hires a "Tuckles' Little Helper", we are all doomed.

Ok, just finished modeling a scimitar for the Quelthasas.

I tried to keep the same general feel for the faction, although I think i went overboard and made it a little too "fantasy-like". It looks a bit unwieldy.

I also painted a face texture....just let me know what you think

@Tuckles: Thanks..I just baked the bump map for that matter

Both awesome!

The face actually freaked me out a bit. (Very demonic-looking!)

I think that scimitar is perfect the way it is now; quelthasas equipment is going to be bulkier than normal equipment. That was the idea all along.

OK...I finished the two-handed sword for the Quelthasas...it's a bit unfinished texture-wise because I am about to leave work (thank God it was a quiet day and I had time to model) . I'll work some more on the texture tomorrow and post an updated image.

Cheers!

Ah... damn. My bad; I figured that it was a Mount and Blade mod...

KK's undead aren't too bad; I might modify the names a little, but it's nice to see him throwing in some ideas...

Note to all viewers: becoming one of my teammates is as easy as saying that you'll provide some help; whether it be some script, pics, ideas or whatever. When the mod's first version is done I'll put the names of all contributors in my credits... so don't forget to post some ideas if you have any.

Just realise that I take all ideas seriously and may very well put your ideas into my mod.

For the record these are current the Warrior of Eternity mod team members (my little brother isn't really reliable enough; he's very tempermental :P):

Hello...

It's a busy day today at work son I don't know how much I can do for the mod... I re-textured the two-hander ( still looks plain - I have an obsession with detailed textures :D) . As soon as I finish my duties I'll start making a bardiche / polearm and the great lance. Anyhow, Ignorant_Knight ( or just "knight"?!?..or TIK?) do you have any ideas for a banner for the Quelthasas... A symbol, an insignia...something that can be used on any item. I'd like to give each faction a distinct look and have their own banner and symbols used on shields, armours, etc..

In the next few days I'm gonna download BRF edit (I don't have it on my work computer)  and start tweaking some armours and helmets...

Best of luck!

Knight, TIK or IK are all fine; take your pick.

The new sword looks great; the overall appearance looks fantastic. Great job. 8-)

A quelthasas symbol?

Hm... a black dragon or possibly a standard demon symbol (a five pointed star within a pentogram) would be good...

The demon symbol would probably be best; perhaps we could combine the two so that we have a black demon (star within a pentagon) symbol, rather than the typical red one...

I'm leaning towards the following background colours for the symbols on banners:

Humans - Gold and blue
Elves - Green and a light yellow
Dwarves - Brown and light grey
Quelthasas - Red and maroon
Undead - Black and dark grey
Naiyan - Purple and perhaps teal or cyan
