OKay now my wife gave birth to twins, she said she will guard one and iwill have to guard the other, but the baby is just an item in my inventory. Will it grow into a child and how? I

Child is just an item and all you can do with it is to keep it safe or sell it. Your child will not grow up.

Well, child feature is for roleplay specially. A warband game take 4 or 5 in game years max, if you lose 9 months for baby get out, you have 4 years he/she get grow up, no enough time for he/she join you (14 or 16 years need)
If your warband game will take 16 in game years, then we will have add new code

Just sell your child to the local horse vendor in one of the towns in Pictland.

Yeah it doesn't do anything, it's there for flavour only, quite a neat little bit of flavour actually.
