Little did the townsfolk know what was really behind the recent string of wolf attacks. It wasn't until the original hunting parties were sent out that they were facing a much bigger threat--Werewolves! The Hunted is a Warband Multiplayer mod that pits ranged hunters against melee beasts. Based off the idea of Yoshiboy's Huntmod, The Hunted aims to recreate and add to the Huntmod-style of play for the latest version of Warband. Additions include more weapons, more classes, class abilities and more. In the darkest of nights, who is really the hunted? Man or Beast?

Factions

Hunters
Hunters use various ranged weapons to rid the world of the werewolf menace. Bows, Crossbows, Firearms and Throwing Weapons are at their disposal. Hunters have a limited choice of armor and all hunters have the option to buy a torch as well as a hunting dagger (neither of which can be used to block). Hunters can taunt by pressing Z.
Archer
The Archer uses bows as his main weapon. While they lack the punch of other classes, they fire fast and are accurate at range.
Ability: Fire Arrows
Archer's can utilize fire arrows that light their targets ablaze for a limited time by pressing C.

Crossbowman
As the name suggests, Crossbowmen use crossbows to get the job done. The ability to aim shots without tiring makes Crossbowmen very accurate and their bolts deal decent damage, making the Crossbowman a good all-around hunter.
Ability: Pinning Shot
For a limited time, Crossbowmen can fire shots that slow enemies by pressing C.

Musketeer
Musketeers have various firearms at their disposal--from the arquebus to flintlock rifles, to pistols and even a blunderbuss! Musketeers deliver high burst damage at the expense of long-reload times.
Ability: Drill
Musketeers can temporarily increase their loading speed by pressing C.

Mountaineers
Mountaineers are a special bunch. Used to hunting game with throwing weapons as well as blasting holes in the sides of mountains, Mountaineers come equipped with various throwing weapons that deliver damage quickly up close. They also pack grenades, making them dangerous against those who would charge in groups.
Ability: Powder Keg
Mountaineers can spawn a powder keg by pressing C. They can detonate the keg (as long as they are within a certain distance) by pressing C again. The keg can be destroyed by attacking it and disappears if the spawner dies.

Reward Class: Slayer
Experience hunters of the occult, Slayers come armed with a rapid-fire crossbow and a bottle of Holy Water.
Ability: Automatic Fire (Subject to Change)
By aiming and pressing C, Slayers can fire automatically for a short burst (also consuming no ammo).

Beasts
Beasts hunt their prey by getting up-close and personal. With claws as well as melee weapons for some, Beasts are dangerous to face in melee. Beasts can howl by pressing Z. Howling regenerates some health and gives other beasts an idea of where you are.

Scout
Scouts are fast beasts that are used to locate prey so tougher beasts can move in. That doesn't make them weak though, their claws still deal a fair amount of damage and their speed allows them to close distances quickly.
Ability: Sniff
Scouts sniff out enemy hunters (via Native Master of the Field-style projections) and gain a small speed boost by pressing C.

Brute
Brutes have iron-like hides capable of soaking up more damage than any other beast. Due to the metabolic energy needed to keep their tough skin, their claws are stunted, dealing less damage. Brutes are best used for charging into groups and causing chaos, allowing other beasts to attack unscathed.
Ability: Tank
Brutes receive less damage for a period of time by pressing C.

Hound
With sharp claws and a limited arsenal of melee weapons at their disposal, hounds are the front-line beast.
Ability: Bloodlust
For a limited time, Hounds gain lifesteal on each successful attack by pressing C.

Halfbreed
Humans who had the willpower to initially resist their transformation become Halfbreeds. Halfbreeds rely on weapons and deception to kill their prey.
Ability: Deceive
By pressing C, Halfbreeds return to their human form and disguise themselves as a hunter for a limited time (or until C is pressed again).

Reward Class: Alpha
The head of the pack, the Alpha werewolf is a strong, fast and tough.
Ability: Infecting Strike
Enemies killed while Infecting Strike is active (by pressing C) turn into Beta werewolf bots that hunt down the enemy on their own.

Special Items
Special items that cannot be bought can be found in-game. Some can only be used by certain factions.
Hunter Items - can only be used by Hunters
Silver Dagger - A dagger that causes beasts to bleed.
Silver Ammunition (Arrows, Bolts, Bullets) - Similar to the Silver Dagger, beasts hit by silver ammo will bleed.
Holy Water - A throwing weapon meant to splash Beasts with Holy Water, causing them to burn.
Beast Items - can only be used by Beasts
Occult Sword - a demonic sword that has a significant chance to light people hit by it on fire.
Occult Pendant - a throwing weapon that slows enemy hunters in the area where it hits.
(More to come)
Misc Items - can be used by anyone
Torch - Forgot to buy a torch? Or maybe you're a beast who likes the light? Either way, torches have a small chance to light those hit by them on fire.
Green Goo - Mysterious Green Goo, watch it wiggle and jiggle! Or throw it at your enemies! Anyone (including beasts) that gets hit in the splash can be tracked by beasts, but beasts hit by the splash have their senses muddled by the strong smell.
Barricade - A placeable, destroyable barricade.
Fish - A fish. Humiliate your enemies while you kill them! (Cannot parry).
Bigger Fish - Humiliate your enemies while you kill them quicker! (Can parry, may knock down).

Game Modes
Most Native game modes work in The Hunted (CTF, Conquest and maybe Fight and Destroy do not). Likewise, The Hunted will feature the following game modes (modes marked with an asterisk may not make it into initial release):

Hunt
Hunters hunt Beasts in this game mode (or do they?). Beasts have a limited number of tickets, lose one ticket per death and gain one ticket per kill. Hunters win by reducing the tickets to zero, while Beasts win by surviving until the timer runs out. If Beasts manage to reach a certain number of tickets above their starting number, a Blood Moon occurs for a minute, giving Beasts health per second while an ominous red fog rolls in.

Infection
A "Zombies" like game mode, Beasts start off with one player. Hunters who are killed become Beasts. The winner is the Hunter who lasts the longest!

Onslaught*
Hunters must defend various objectives (destroyable objects, locations or bots) from enemy Beasts within the time frame.

Patrol*
Hunters must make their way through a semi-linear map, while Beasts must try to stop them! Teams switch at the end of each round. (Think Left4Dead versus mode).

Credits and Thanks
Yoshiboy for the inspiration and permission to use some assets from Huntmod.
Yoshiboy (again), Ursca and Highelf for said assets.
Various artists for sounds (see Credits_and_Attributions.txt in the mod folder for specifics).

Want to Contribute?
I'm currently in need of one or more modelers/texturers, as well as an artist to help with logo and UI design. I may also need a second set of eyes to help balance items and stats. Sceners are also welcome. PM me if you are interested!

Sounds interesting...will you be teasing us with pictures any time soon for the creative side of my brain?

Sounds hot
But that really reminds me on this piece:

No screenshots of troops in action yet (I still need to swap out some native items for other stuff), but you can visit Nordous' Sceners Guild for a peek at one of the scenes!

I like the look of that map.  Not too big and not too small, and plenty of spots to ambush people.  Keep up the good work, looking forward to playing this.
