Archers become too brave for their own good

Hello,
I recently downloaded this excellent mod. After some time playing it, I notice some weird behaviours regarding archer skirmish mode. When ordered, archers don't seem to run away when enemy is near. I have to press F6 twice or sometimes 4 times for them to react. And when they do, half of them run toward the enemy while the rest still stand and fight. I wonder if there is any fix for this problem.
 
I lose a lot of archers too.  Sometimes they do a nice job staying close enough to the enemy to cause damage but sometimes they madly charge the enemy and then get wiped out.  I don't use archers much now and have pretty much relied on an army of 3/4 infantry and 1/4 cavalry.
 
Also, once I helped a fight between two lords, enemy archers try to flank us but they overdone it, they walked all the way to our formation's back without any protection from the inf.
