[WB][S] Matriarchy

Interesting idea.  I haven't downloaded yet, but I'm interested in giving this mod a try.

I completely agree with you about the female armor.  As a woman, I get frustrated sometimes with the fantasy armor tropes.

Also, I've been giving some thought to other names you may want to try.  What about "Women of War," "Athena's Daughters," "Calradian Valkyries," or "Daughters of Calradia"?

A modder from Spain made a very nice mod about 5 years ago for original M&B "Matriarch" and for Warband "Ribhinn Revolution", 2011. His mods are at the Nexus. There is a strong Female faction called Ribhinn, with sensible armors designed by the modder. The bandits are more of the chainmail bikini type to represent barbaric Celtic influenced tribes, and are quite powerful compared to ordinary M&B bandits. Also a nice music pack is included. I helped a bit translating some of the new companion's dialogue from Spanish to English. I don't know if the modder, Trongar, is still active, but the mod is nicely done and I never ran into any bugs with it.

I'll certainly use your mod in my Warband, I always liked the Sword Sisters in mods, though I usually replaced their fragile coursers with hunters in a troop editor, they are so fast and aggressive it's better to keep them under close control to keep them from getting chopped up in enemy spawn points.

PS Trongar is a pretty nice guy, and I bet if you can contact him he'd help with making some female Lords, his mod has the whole faction with female lords and queen.

I really should be learning for an exam... but whatever
New version online!! Details in the first post!

@EternalPaladin
Thanks! I now use "Women of War" for the sword sister troop tier. Daughters of Calradia would be an excellent name for the culture but I still need to figure out if that is even necessary.

@Chiksika
I will definitely check that mod out, thanks for the suggestion. Also the argument regarding the coursers is quite a good one, I have now substituted the coursers for hunters.

Thordalf I just downloaded the latest 0.3 version. Started a new game and went to a random village in each of the factions. All the villages I tested did not give me the option to recruit women

Yeah, I know... that is a consequence of the existing kingdoms being very patriarchic.
A little bit technical stuff: The Diplomacy policies are just sliders ranging from -3 to +3, with -3 being totally matriarchic and +3 being totally patriarchic.
Now the formula which calculates the number of female recruits: ( (3 - patriarchy) / 6 ) * number of troops available

So you can see that it is almost impossible at the start of the game to get female troops from the existing kingdoms because they are very or completely patriarchic (2-3).
Yesterday I had the idea of introducing the odd "renegade" male/female recruit to counter this. I think I should really do this. Give me a minute

Thank the Maker! Absolutely Thordalf. If there is no counter, well for a good part of the game we will not even see our own troops. That is a negative.

Ok, new version is online. I made two adjustments.
1. The division operation in the module system rounds down, so there was sometimes one recruit lost until now. Now the lost recruit will be added either to the gender that has no recruitable troops or to a random gender.
2. If the first does not apply, there is a 1 in 4 chance that a member of the oppressed gender is willing to join your party as a bonus.

Hello everybody!

I made a small mod for Warband v1.158 for myself to allow an all-female kingdom. It lets you recruit women in the towns and introduces a new troop tree for them.

New menu option in recruiting screen:

Recruited woman troop tree:

Also I really appreciate any suggestions how to expand this mod.

This is a wonderful idea!  My suggestion for expansion, should you care to try it, would be to make unique female troop trees for each kingdom's Recruited Women.

One could start by making each kingdom's females the same, but have different face codes to match the racial looks of the kingdom (I'd be happy to provide face codes, or you could just copy them from attractive court ladies of the respective kingdoms).  Later you could make different gear (roughly comparable from kingdom to kingdom) or even vary the gear and stats to reflect your perception of the kingdoms.  Doing it incrementally like this would keep it from being such a chore

If you remember at the start of this topic, I commented then Matriarchy is like a basic version of MelsPerisno. Here we got input from the creator of that mini-mod Mel herself  It is another thing you can put in the queue for the future, maybe get her permission on using some of the clothes and such.

I thought about this, but dismissed it at first because I don't want the female troops to be just a mirror of their male counterparts. But with the path you described it seems way more feasible. I think I gonna add this to the planned features list.
Regarding the facecodes, if you could provide some ranges for the troops that would be awesome! (I develop and play under linux and the edit mode does not work here yet...)

Silly me, I didn't have a look at MelsPerisno back when you first mentioned it but did now. It looks really awesome. So @MelanieWard, where did you get those armors or did you make them yourself? And if you made them yourself, may I use them in this mod?

MelsPerisno is an authorized submod of the great Perisno mod; that is, it uses only the resources in Perisno itself (many of which are open source), along with a few by DtheHun that were used in the mod Blood & Steel that he graciously granted me permission to use.  I have no skill whatsoever with coding, scening or modeling; I mostly am just a Morgh's and OpenBrf hacker

The bottom line is, I cannot grant permission to use any armours in MelsPerisno, sorry!  They are not mine.  As I noted, many are open source, a few are from DtheHun (the Amazon stuff) and the rest belong to Perisno.  You'd want Michadr's permission to use those.

I'd be more than happy to set up kingdom facecode ranges for the female soldiers, though.

If you want to use the OSP items we use in Perisno simply go here> http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,294021.msg6988358.html#msg6988358
and search whichever you want in google, and download. That would be the easiest way.

Don't forget to credit!

@MelanieWard and @Michadr: Thanks you guys! Thats awesome! I will definitely look at all those items.

you should add a female invasion
I think that is a little bit beyond the scope of (and my time for) this mod. But starting with the next version (which should be ready very soon) the source will be available on github, so if you have time, a little bit programming skills and ideally an example mod, you could implement this.
