Hi all.

I've ever played Brytenwalda, 1257AD, and Silverstag. Although they are generally considered to be 'big-sized' mods, I didn't have any trouble playing those mods. However I found this Floris mod unacceptably laggy. It starts to lag even when there is only 30 soldiers in total. I tried smoke dust fix, map graphic changes mini-mod, but none of them worked. I know then I have to get myself Gameplay or Basic version, but I still miss those items in the expanded version.

Is it just that this mod is 'super big-sized mod', or is there still anything I can do to solve it??

Replies especially from those who have ever played the mods mentioned above would be much appreciated.
 
You might want to share an rgl log. Preemptively i will mention that Floris expanded needs more than 2GB RAM.

I have played 1257 AD and Silverstag and I don't experience unnatural lag in either of them nor in Floris during combat except when playing with more than 450 troops on the field (those other mods also lag with 450+ troops on the field anyway). Never tried Brytenwalda.

There are no issues with your system, it may just not work well enough with the engine to run expanded smoothly. I recommend you use the gameplay version as it keeps most core features intact and still has more items than native. The number of items within Floris is the main reason people experience problems, which is why you ll probably have to give up on staying with the full version.

You could try out the application game booster, it has helped some people. No guarantees though.
 
So there is really no use lowering graphic settings since it comes from having so many in-game items.

Overall the number of items has a larger impact than the graphical options, but that doesnt mean lowering graphical options cant help. However if the computing demand, that the items generate, is far more than what your pc can provide, then lowering options wont fix the issue.

Just as a general heads up, so folks dont skip trying different options.
 
On a lot of systems nowadays that's certainly true. Normal sized textures don't really eat up so much video RAM considering a lot of even the cheap video cards come with at least 1 GB VRAM by default. Nowadays it's so common for even mid-range cards to have 2 GB, so texture size isn't such a big deal for most video cards anymore. I play almost all modern games on "ultra", which isn't even something to brag about anymore nowadays because almost everybody with a mid-range system can play almost all modern games on "ultra".

That said, number of items and continuous scripts causes lag more due to processing and traffic flow between the video card and the rest of your computer. Or something like that. I'm not really a tech head and I don't want you to get that impression, but I remember somebody explaining it that way before lol. XD It does make sense though. We're not loading a few high res images like for landscape and human skin, but literally hundreds of normal res bits of images for all the axe heads, sword hilts, hat feathers, horse hair textures, etc.

By the way, is this mod intended to be run with WSE?
Because there was no performance issue at all when I ran the mod with WSE though it said warband version was 1.153 not 1.158, which is the latest one.
 
It is not specifically intended, but WSE does have some in-built functions that improve warband performance (a memory cleaner for one iirc). Good to hear things are working for you now.
