How-to-be-a-part-of-the-community-guide (for new players)

Users who are viewing this thread

You are curious to play this mod? Then follow this guide to become a part of the most awesome community in Mount and Blade: Warband!

(Ideas can be added)

Installation

1. Install the mod from this page http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,286569.0.html  install it as a stand-alone. Do not put it in the mod folder for Mount and Blade Warband.

2.  Find the start icon on your desktop and allready release on the loading screen that Vikingr is the best mod ever.

Create a character

1. Find a old norse, anglo-saxon, rus, celtic or norman name for your character. If you can't find one, look here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,237364.0.html

2. Choose a banner that you like. NOTICE: Do NOT take a banner from the Clan-banner-page. (On that page will stand "For Clans only")

3. By Odin, do not name youself Ragnar Lothbrok...

The Servers

1. Join the Hildileikr for Battle.

2. Join the Jomsborg Server for Deathmatch/Duel/Team Deathmatch/whatever if they aren't people on Hildileikr. Wait until so many people join the Server until the admin commands you to go join the Hildileikr Server.

Behaviour

1. Do not teamkill people, otherwise admins will bann you from the servers. If you teamkilled someone accidently, wait until the end of the battle to excuse.

2. If someone insults you, you insult him back because you are a Vikingr-Player now. BUT! You do not insult him as Mother******.  You insult him as "Stinking turd" or "Low porn *born orc". If he is confused and asks you what you mean, ignore him.

How to fight

1.  http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,232441.0.html

2. If you fight against Goidil, take a large round shield. You will find out why.

Events

1. There is one event you shoud always join. The Shieldwall event.
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,272650.0.html
Vikingr without the Shieldwall event would be like a forest without trees.

2. Always take a look for other events on the forum. For example this one:
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,289124.0.html

3. Rare events are the historical events. This event are quit big with around 150-200 players. On this event, you re-act a historical event like the Battle of Hastings or something else.

How to be connected

1. Save this Teamspeak Adress on favourites. 176.9.103.48:9986 Because this is the Vikingr Community Teamspeak.
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,272859.0.html

2. Join the Steam-group of Vikingr.  http://steamcommunity.com/groups/vikingrmp

Nice idea, you've got all that's needed there I'd say. Just, the layout could be alot better.

Later on I'll send you a PM of what I mean. But again, nice idea. Welcome to Víkingr any new folks reading this.

On that list should be also that when you select a leaderclass (and you have never player Vikingr before), when you blow the horn and someone unfreezes you by kicking you 'cos it freezes you, YOU DON't START KILLIN' THE PLAYER WHO HELPED YOU TO UNFREEZE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT HALF A MINUTE BY STANDIN' IN THE OPEN WHEN ENEMY ARRIVES, that's all.

But good guide, Ragnar.

God sake, keep up! Here:

I had envisioned something like this. Not as readable as yours, but whatever it serves as a means to show what can be done with TaleWorlds.

I'll repost if need be.

Well with that, this thread is completed.

I was already asked to post it by an admin. I said no because it's your thread and your idea, so I'll only post it if this thread is deleted/closed/or whatever.

Maybe put something for the approximate high time for players, I don't think players from NA realize the majority of the player base is european

Good work! I think the Vikingr community is often quite intimidating at first, if you get as far as Hildileikr. Good tips by the other contributors here as well. You can also tell about how joining clans works, and warn about the often daunting linguistic chat content.

Also maybe a word about the apologies for teamkills and teamhits and common greetings. I've heard that Vikingr has a friendly community, and this is something we should be proud of and pass on!

Good work, Ragnarr!
