Russia and BeNe now go head to head in what's heating up to be an intense battle for promotion in Group B. United Kingdom's win against Canada put them in first place, as BeNe and Canada have their excepted tie giving each 1.5 points. Russia are yet to be tested, having started in Week 2 against the now retired Greek team. Russia will want to make an impact here. If they lose, it likely means they'll need to beat Canada and UK in their next games and they won't want to rely on a transatlantic match, being so far to the East. BeNe simply need points. They cannot be happy with their lacklustre draw against the Canucks and know that they need a win against Russia or the UK for a decent shot at promotion. In spite of Irishman's recent comments, the Russians are always a force to be reckoned with. Their history in the game is rich and they traditionally perform well in the Nations Cup, seeing it as a matter of community pride. The original champions will know not to underestimate BeNe though. BeNe have failed time and time again to achieve highly in the Nations Cup but they still have one of the strongest rosters on paper. Veterans that are poised to punish the Russians who have been stumbling and slipping into decline for too long.
