Seeking help with French cavalry ranks and their abbreviations

Users who are viewing this thread

Hey everyone, I'm looking to ask someone who is a part of a French cavalry regiment (preferably hussars) or has knowledge of the French cavalry's ranks and their abbreviations during the Napoleonic Wars. If you are unsure what I mean by abbreviations, I will give you a few examples.

American Army ranks and abbreviations:

Private [PVT]
Corporal [CPL]
Sergeant [SGT]

And etc.

I have drafted a rank structure already, so I would appreciate any corrections if anything is incorrect or out of place:

Capitaine [CNE]
Lieutenant [LTN]
Sous Lieutenant [SLT]
Marechal-des-logis Chef [MDC]
Marechal-des-logis [MDL]
Brigadier-Fourrier [BRF]
Brigadier[BRI]
Cavalier [CAV] (However, I do not know whether I should replace this rank with that of Hussard or stay with Cavalier.)

Thanks for reading. I would highly appreciate any sources on the Grande Armée's ranks and their abbreviations along with the response, however, corrections to the abbreviations would suffice. Thank you in advance for any replies!
