This code fixed it for me, i changed it in the scripts file and lords that just wondered around defected to new factions. This is from one of the mini mods i found.

Thank you for the code modified, it really solved this bug for me.

Can you please tell me - would this code work for any other M&B mod which has a similar bug or is it Brytenwalda-specific?

I am going to try to copy-past these code changes to scripts file of another mode, however I'm not that good in coding so I'm not sure that it would help.

I think it may only work for Brytenwalda, i tried it on another mod and it didn't seem to make any difference.

had the same problem and fix worked fine. Will there be an offical Brytenwalda fix for that, I suppose that everybody will have the same problem.

By the way, one of my lords is prisoner of a shadow faction (probably got caught by one of the former pest lords) but I don't know how to find him. The faction officialy is eliminated and has no fiefs. What can I do to free my lord?

this didnt make any difference for me. there is another similar entry in the script.txt: "lord_find_alternative_faction -1" but with the different values. do I need to delete it by any chance?

Yes you will need to delete any other entry for lord_find_alternative_faction.  If you don't, it will only use one of them (probably the first one it finds)

Those numbers are actually python pcode.

 
Wow, that actually fixed the crap pestering lords all over my map, I had 6 kingdoms vanish defeated in just a couple days! YAY! XD

If this doesnt bother WillardM I´m uploading this "fix" to The Nexus with referral link to this thread, I know a lot of other guys with this issue and they will appreciate it!  :grin:

I uploaded a modified scripts.txt with the code for easier lord faction switching that WillardM posted in this thread. Here is the link, try it, it worked for me, might work for you too

I believe I've found what's causing this bug. It's this section of code in module_scripts.py:

This was added in 1.41, I confirmed that by looking at the module_scripts.py file from 1.40. Commenting this out fixed the bug in my current save.
