(.890 to .892) Heroes don't immediately join battle
« on: September 25, 2007, 08:29:12 PM »
I currently have 3 of the heroes. I wanted to try going "semi" soloing just with them, so, with my imported character, outfitted them with various suits of mail and swords.

When going into battle, however, they don't immediately join in. There is a gap of about 10 seconds between each. Even more frustrating, only 2 of the heroes seem to join.

However, when I have a non-hero in the party, all heroes join immediately, just like it should be.

Can't tell if this is a bug or WAD at the moment....

What is your battlesize? It might be that the enemy party has 40 troops and you have 4 (including yourself). Your battlesize is 33 or something so 30 enemies and 3 allies spawn.

Battlesize is 72, as per default. I can see little reason why all the heroes should only appear if you have at least 1 non hero on your team :?

Confirmed, I experience the exact same thing, as do alot of other players as well, IIRC.

Same bug in .891. If you don't have a regular, only two of your heroes show up in battle.

What's a WAD?

'Working As Designed'

Or a bunch of cash.

But I'll go with the former in this case.

Arh ... couldn't find back tht thread so sent you a pm

I did a full retest of the heroes not showing up bug for.891

Native version, no tweak (you know how much I love my extra heroes , I did without for the sake of proper testing)

Haven't had time to do it for .892 yet

If you got even one peasant, all 4 heroes show up immediately

If you got zero troops, no hero shows up immediately
then 2 of them show up on reinforcement phase, one at a time

I do not thing it is intended

That exact specific bug existed before and was fixed in .808
i.e. you can see it's not there at all by playing bands of warrior, or by doing my tweak

I believe the problem was the same as in the castle siege

It may be also that Armagan is hesitating how to balance the power of heroes
if you got first aid 10 and wound treatment 10 they heal nearly instantly
(as long as you are councious and inteligent enought to retreat)

I think a better way would be an injury system, at least for heroes
something like the last days, but better
like the heroes getting injured when struck a really bit hit
(in the last days it was when the player fell uncounscious, limits of the module system)

those injuries could take months to heal and force us to send him to a monastery or something
some couldn't heal: eyeloss, cripled arm or leg
It would force us to rely more on troops

Also, it would give a reason to add 30+ heroes in taverns !!! or even infinite numbers ... as they all get cripled

Of course, think of the satisfaction of cripling your worst enemy ... or the dark knight himself

It still happens in .892. I'd better change the title to reflect that.

The real problem with this bug is not just delayed entrance of heroes, its the fact that no more then 2 will join you in battle no matter how many you have. BoW mod is based around managing lots of heroes so this bug essentially brakes it until the bug is fixed. From what I saw, this is the biggest bug in game currently as it even affects native game where you can have 4 heroes.

We still don't know if this is a bug or intended behaviour.

It would be good to know, because if it's intended behavior then I'd like to have some of that stuff that they're smoking, thanks.
