And a simple way to balance out factions in the game is to make the invaders have twice as many army's, but make the calradian empire dominate the battlefield with their calradian (swadian) knights.

But rebel empire's history is something like Targaryen campaign. The leader was exiled from the empire because he said that the previous emperor, who was his brother, was assessinated by the new emperor's men. Now, ten or 15 years later, he comes from the south (from Zephar, near sarranid desert) with a big mercenary army and some southerners to take the Empire control.
